A chance meeting with a stranger can turn your entire world upside down. When Colton ‘Colt’ Bishop enters a bar in New York City, he has a plan. His job is to find an easy target and take her back to his place for a few days. He is working his way up the crime ladder doing a job he never wanted. Lily Hilton has it all, but is hiding from a troublesome past. When she enters a bar downtown, and runs into her old high school crush, her entire world is turned upside down. She is determined to make him notice her, but that plan may work better than she expects. Colton does not hesitate to take Lily home and use her as his new pawn, but their past begins to catch up with them as their secrets unravel and he must decide what is more important to him, protecting Lily or himself.
All I can say is WOW!!! This book was not exactly what I was expecting at all, especially with all the teaser’s that were posted. With that said though think about what the teaser is meant to do. They are put out there to grab our interest in the book and as we all know those teaser’s did the trick. Teresa did an amazing job at pulling us into this story just like she always has. One more thing before I go into the review please take the time and read this book even if it isn’t what you expected because the story truly is amazing. O.K. enough with the little ramble onto the review.
Colt and Lily as we are introduced to them have a heart wrenching history to say the least. Lily/Rose suffered dearly as a young adult and Colt/Cole was always there for her. For the sake of this review I am going to refer to them as Rose and Cole because that to me is who they truly are even if they both go by different names now. Most of the story takes place in Cole’s point of view with a ton of flashbacks to when him and Rose were just teenagers. I have to say there were times that I just wanted to knock the piss out of Rose. I totally felt for her and what she had to endure but the way she treated Cole is just awful. Then there is teenage Cole and the abuse and neglect and loss he suffered that turned him into a man that does not care what he has to do to survive.
Throughout the story I was not 100% sure what the ending was going to be and if Cole and Rose could make it through to the other side. Rose was hiding herself from her past while Cole was doing what he had to do. You are left constantly wondering how or what Cole is going to do next. Does he love Rose still or does he truly blame her for what he has turned into. The chemistry between the two is unbelievable, the sex is HOT!!! but most important is the love that you know these two have for each other.
There is love, kidnapping, sex, death, crime, and tons and tons of drama. When you are at about the finish line and the whole story comes together you are like wait, what in the hell is going on and then it’s like a smack to your head and it all just kind of falls into place. At the same time though you are squeezing your hands together and ready to throw you Ereader across the room because what should have been a happily ever after seems to be falling right through their fingertips. Hold on don’t throw anything and swear you will not finish reading the story keep going take a deep breath and see what happens in the end.
I am a huge fan of Teresa and this book just added yet another reason for me to love her books.
I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed because I was expecting a completely different book due to the teasers that were posted on Facebook. I still enjoyed it and think this is a great book. I loved Rose and Cole. I loved Lily and Colt. And of course loved Ruby and Cameron.
Rose and Cole went threw a horrible childhood. I felt for both of them threw the book. I enjoyed reading the flashbacks that Colt would have of the two. It really put more details into their past together. Rose having a rough childhood then changes her name to Lily. After years of not seeing Cole she goes to find him only to realize the Cole she knew was not the same and now went by Colt. He was a complete alpha male, bad ass, and mean as shit but with good reasons. 🙂 I hated the stepfather and the ex-Fiance with a passion.
The love was real in this book. You could feel the struggles that Colt went threw. The sex was hot. I did expect more in that department but was content with what it had. This was a great story and it flowed perfectly. Another great book by Teresa Mummert.
About the Author
I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France where I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney’s Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn’t resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what brings us here today. If you have a moment I’d like to tell you a story.

Title: Love Notes
Author: Heather Gunter
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 2, 2013
How do you cope when the people you care for hurt you the most? When the way you feel on the outside, smothers you on the inside. And when you are left to face your demons alone, will you learn that only you have the power to overcome them? Charlie has never had it easy. Between the constant moving and the incessant fat comments and jokes from her father, her self-worth is nonexistent. Her reflection in the mirror shows her nothing but a plain Jane. Music is the only thing that keeps her sanity in check. Charlie catches the eye of the town star quarterback, Maverick. With her curves, her brunette hair, and the voice of an angel, Maverick has never met anyone like her. Everything that is different about Charlie just makes Maverick like her more. Unfortunately, Charlie doesn’t see it herself. Proving it to her may deem harder than he thinks, especially when tragedy strikes and tears them apart. Now standing on her own two feet she may finally learn exactly who she is, what’s she’s capable of and how very un plain Jane she really is.
I turn to Will, “Dude was that really necessary?” Will just throws his quirky smile up and shrugs his shoulders.
“Couldn’t be helped bro. It looked like you were drooling all over yourself. We are talking baby drool bad. And I, being your best friend and all, am here to help keep you from the massive embarrassment you were fixing to bestow upon yourself.”
I hang my head, stare at the floor and smile. “Can’t help it Will. I like her, I like her a lot.”
I knew I wouldn’t catch any ribbing from him, considering his infatuation with a certain red head.
Will starts chuckling, “Yeah, yeah, I know. I could tell. You forget, I’ve known you since diapers. I have to say though Maverick, I’ve never seen you so, so….Twitter painted.”
Nice. A Disney reference.
“You ass,” I laugh, and playfully punch him in the arm and grab him into a headlock. Of course, it doesn’t faze him and he’s laughing like the tool he is. I let go and he finally stops laughing and turns serious, like the switching of a light.
“Nah, seriously dude, I can tell you like her. She’s hot Maverick, and seems really nice. She also doesn’t seem very into herself, which is rare. Plus, I also saw her walking with Tori earlier. So I know she’s got to be cool.”
I instantly feel a pang of jealousy. I must have gotten a look on my face and Will can read me like a damn book.
“Now, now don’t get all territorial and go pissing all over her. That might turn her off,” he says. I simmer down because I know he still has feelings for someone else. It was the fact that he noticed. But then again, anyone would notice. How could you not? I just don’t want any competition. The thought of someone else with her was driving me insane.
I really enjoyed this book. The things that Charlie went threw is something that is so real these days its crazy. And it doesn’t just happen in high school. This is something that happens to even grown adults which is really sad. This book will hopefully help some people out in realizing that its not ok to be talked down to like that. I felt for Charlie threw the whole book. I even teared up a lot threw out. Maverick was so sweet and caring. It really is hard to find guys that are the whole package like he is. He was there to show her the way. They had true love. This book to me was great. I cant wait for the next book with Tori and Will. I was really hoping they would end up together in this book and I am glad they are getting there own book.
Charlies parents…. If I could I would jump into this book and beat the crap out of Charlies Mom and “Dad”. They had me so pissed off. I have kids and could never in a million years imagine doing to them what Charlie went threw. Thank goodness for Tori and her Mom.
My favorite part of this book is a letter that Maverick wrote to Charlie. :
I wanted to leave you with something to think about. The yellow rose is a symbol of friendship, where we are starting at. However, the red around the tips of the petals means that I have feelings that I would like to see grow into more. Please remember our talk from earlier. I meant every damn word.
Your friend, but hopefully not for much longer,

One corner of Kye’s lips quirked upward, his hand taking mine. He turned it over, his fingers playing slowly across my palm. I should have pulled away, but I didn’t.
“You will never change, will you, Stone? You will never accept that some must be lost for much to be gained.”
I shook my head, my eyes on his fingers as they traced the lines of my hands. It was a curious sensation, and warmth unfurled in the pit of my stomach, lighting a fire that heated every corner of my body.
“Should I change?” I whispered hoarsely.
Kye’s smile grew. “No, you keep us balanced. I keep the rebels fighting for freedom, and you keep us all humble.”
I forced my eyes away from my palm. How was I supposed to think when he was drawing shapes like that on my skin? I tugged on my hand. Kye refused to let go.
“You’ve forgiven me,” he stated.
It wasn’t a question, and his boldness with my hand made me bold as well. I lifted my free hand, reaching tentatively for his face. He watched me, his eyes alert, his breathing stilled.
My finger touched the scar on his temple, and he exhaled, his eyes closing. The fingers he’d been drawing circles with on my palm froze.
“So many scars,” I breathed. “You had enough without my hatred.”

I’m not supposed to love him. I’m supposed to… hell, I don’t know what I’m supposed to feel. He could never love me the way I could love him. He’ll just leave me alone and heartbroken.
“Angel?’ I hear him coming up behind me.
“I don’t want to talk about it, Slade. I just need time to think.” I continue to walk down the hallway, not looking back at him.
He grabs my arm and spins me around roughly, knocking me up against the wall. Before I can ask what the hell he’s doing, his lips are on mine, and his hands grab my thighs, lifting me up. I don’t hesitate, wrapping my legs around him and kissing him back. He lets go of my legs and fists his hands tightly in my hair as he starts walking us to his bedroom. This is how it needs to be between us. Just sex, no love.

I have to say that I have read this book at least three times already. I had reviewed it once before on Goodreads and then my children got a hold of my iPad and deleted a crap load of stuff. So I decided I’m gonna read all my books again and now that I am part of this blog give out new reviews.
Suicide Note is a touching second chance romance read. I found my heart breaking for all the things Jenn and Shane have gone through in their lives. I have to start by saying the military is so hugely important to my family, my father, brother and nephew are all Marines and my father in law and uncles were Army. I have luckily not had to live through any of them being deployed but from this story you truly get the feel of how the ones left behind and the ones that go off to war feel.
Jenn is a young woman who thought she had it all that she wanted in life. She had the job she wanted and the man she was going to be marrying in just a few short months. That all changed for her one night when she found out what or who he was doing when he was out late at night. Jenn family was super critical of her and she had a warped sense of self.
Shane is an Army man through and through he had always know that he wanted to be a solider. Like Jenn he thought he had it all. However for him one debasing day in Iraq led to a phone call that forever changed his life when his fiancée told him that she couldn’t handle him being away any more.
Shane and Jenn meet while Shane is on leave. Shane is visiting his cousin in Maine Jenn works with his cousin. Jenn is getting ready to celebrate her birthday but no one knows that all her plans are is to sit on her bridge and get lost in her book. Shane finds a note that appears to be a suicide note and he rushes out to find his cousin, he runs into Jenn at the office and she takes him to find his cousin. When they can’t find him the go their separate ways until he later he finds her spending her birthday all alone on the bridge. Their story really begins sitting in the edge of that bridge.
They start off just doing fun things together because Shane sees this sadness in her and he wants to make it go away. As they continue to spend time together the lines of friendship becomes blurred yet neither one of them know what to do. Shane is holding on to a secret that could devastate Jenn. He has lead her to believe that he is just going to back home to North Crolina when in truth he is leaving to return to Iraq.
They finally see that they have stringers feelings for one another and decide to take the next step but just before that happens Shane confesses that he will be in Iraq, to say Jenn is devasted is an understatement but she knows that Shane is who she has been waiting for her whole life. As the story continues your heart strings are pulled in so many different directions. You can’t help but feel for these two people who have found their other half. Shane is so scared that he will end up heartbroken again.
I can not stress to you how great this story is. I found myself laughing at the silly things these two did. I found myself saying aww at all the sweet things that Shane did for Jenn. Most of all I found myself crying imagining how hard the deployment had to be for these two. Teresa does an amazing job of drawing you into this story. I can say that I did not want this story to end. As I said in the beginning I have read this book multiple times and I will continue to read it again and again. Please do yourself a favor and pick this book up.

Loving Liberty by Belinda Boring
New Adult Contemporary Romance
“Ready?” he asked, aware I was checking him out and enjoying it the attention. His hand beckoned me to approach, and I let out a soft sigh. He stepped away from the table, waiting for me to stand in front of him, my back to his front. “I’m going to have you break, okay?” He moved in closer, and I prayed my legs wouldn’t give. I could feel every inch of him pressed against me.
“Okay,” I stammered. Oliver chuckled low in my ear and I tried not to shiver. Bending me forward with his body, he showed me how to position the pool stick, his arm alongside mine. We fit perfectly.
“Still with me, Liberty?” he asked. I didn’t want to move. We were so connected, the position so intimate, I was sure I was ready to combust on the spot. Andrew had tried holding me this close and it had made my skin crawl. It was the complete opposite with Oliver. This made me feel wanton. Reckless.
“Uh huh.” It was the only way I could respond.
“It’s just you need to keep breathing, sweetheart.” His use of that endearment made my insides melt. “Be brave.”
