***Review of Torn by K.A. Robinson***

Chloe hasn’t had the best life. With a mother who is gone more often than not, she has had to raise herself. After graduating high school, she leaves to start a new life away at West Virginia University with her best friends Amber and Logan, determined to leave her demons in the past.

On her first day, she meets a stranger who takes her breath away at first sight. Until she met Drake, no one had ever sparked her interest. Now this tattooed and pierced bad boy is all she can think about, no matter how hard she fights it.

Falling for Drake was never part of her plans, but when it happens, things seem to do anything but fall into place.

Dealing with a tragic past, Drake has never cared about anyone else but himself and his band. But when Chloe takes the empty seat next to him in class, things start to change. Instantly drawn to her, he begins to wonder if one girl can take a cold hearted womanizer and change every part of him?

Long hidden feelings are revealed and friendships tested to the brink.

Nicole’s Review ~~

Wow this book was absolutely fantastic. K.A. Robinson did a wonderful job at telling this emotional charged story. There are so many things about this book that I don’t even know where to beginning. I guess the first and most important place to start is with Chloe herself. The amount of pain and abuse this young woman has had to endure is so unbelievably heartbreaking. I found my eyes filling up with tears as she began to tell what her life was like growing up. The book starts out with Chloe starting college with her best friends Amber and Logan. Amber and Logan have always been there for Chloe through all the craziness she has endured from her mother. One the first day of classes Chloe sits next to “bad boy” Drake and is automatically completely attracted to him. Logan takes an instant dislike for Drake and starts to bash and keep Chloe away from him. As we all know though when you are so strongly attracted to someone you are just drawn to them and make any and all excuses to be around them.

As Drake and Chloe grow closer Logan’s jealousy starts to show. Drake keeps telling Chloe that there is more to Logan’s behavior than just brotherly/best friend love. As Chloe comes to realize this she finds herself completely unsure of what and how she feels. One night after drinking a little too heavily Logan finally tells Chloe that he is in love with her and that he wants more than a friendship. Of course she becomes even more torn between the stronger feelings she has for Drake and the love that she has for Logan. One night after Chloe suffers an almost tragedy Drake is there to comfort her and they share a kiss that turns hot and heavy but then Drake pushes her away. He tells her he is no good for her and that she should just be with Logan. Chloe leaves a mess and within a few days has to watch Drake paw some other woman. As we all do she ends up getting plastered drunk and ends up hooking up with Logan.

Logan is over the moon happy that they are finally going to take their friendship to another level. Meanwhile Chloe is still so very much torn on her feelings for her best friend turned boyfriend. This is the part in the book that made me give only a 4.5 star rating. As Logan and Chloe relationship has come out and Drake is forced to watch them together he becomes moody and avoids Chloe. One night they end up having to study together and Drake is his moody self and Chloe pushes him for answers as to why. When Drake finally admits it’s because he can’t stand to see Chloe with Logan, Chloe tells him to take her then. I have to say I absolutely abhor cheaters, for me there is no reason to cheat on someone you are with regardless if you have stronger feelings for one or the other. Granted Chloe is wracked with guilty and takes off away from Drake.

Chloe keeps her secret to herself. Her and Drake go back to a strained relationship and Logan is happily oblivious to what has happen. As the story continues things look like things are going back to normally until after winter break. Chloe finds herself at Drake’s house and again things get out of hand, she knows this time she has really screwed up and she must tell Logan what is going on. With all of this going on she has her psychotic mother calling her and threatening to find her again. This is where my heart breaks for her the most because she is forced to come clean to everyone she loves but at the same time dealing with her mother and not having anyone to count on. When all the cards are laid on the table all hell breaks loose and friendships and love are destroyed. I will stop here and now because I do not want you to know how things round up in this book, all I will tell you is the craziness has just started and I truly feel that Chloe has made the right decisions.

So to summarize this is an absolutely wonderful read that will make you smile, cry and cringe. The characters are fantastic, so realistic that you aren’t have to say no one would act like that because I know if I have lived through what Chloe has I would be a complete basket case. There is not one point in the story where you think man can we just move one, there is no filler or anything to make this story drag. It is without a doubt a page turner. There are some sex scenes and man oh man are they pretty hot!!! I complete and highly recommend this book to anyone.
