~BLOG TOUR & GIVEAWAY W/ REVIEW~ Trying to Get Over You by J.D. Rivera
Choices in life are hard.
College student Emily Reynolds has been in a three year relationship with Cooper Thomason but one awful night has left their relationship shaken. She soon finds out she is pregnant and Cooper can’t give up his partying ways. Emily leaves Cooper and tries to find a life without him. She finds out a life without Cooper is harder than she thinks. Will Emily be able to move on from Cooper and find a relationship with another man or run back to him?
I want to start off with saying this is a review and just my opinion. There are going to be people that agree to it and people that don’t. Not every book is going to be the best to everyone. For me this book was hard to finish. I couldn’t get into it and I really wish I could. The cover for this book is amazing. I love the cover. I love how simple it is.
Emily is dating Cooper who cant seem to stop smoking pot. She gives him a choice either her or the pot and he picked her. She let him know if he did it again she would leave. A few weeks later she finds out she is pregnant. The day she finds this out she goes home and finds Cooper not only smoking pot but also had a blonde bimbo pawing on him. Emily holds true to leaving and packs her stuff and moves to her best friend Jen’s apartment. She leaves without telling him he will be a father.
Cooper is devastated and tries everything to get her back. Eventually he finds out that she is dating Ben. Emily claims to be dating Ben to try and move on and get over Cooper. This does not work. I have to say when she tells Ben the truth I loved his reaction to her. She deserved it. During this time Emily and Cooper come up with an idea of buying a house and living together as room mates while raising their baby together. They find a house and buy it. Eventually after Cooper’s father has a heart attack she decides to go back to Cooper and they decide to get married.
The reason this book rated only 3.5 stars. For one I could not stand Emily. The way she was and her thought process was that of a 16 yr old and she is suppose to be 20 turning 21. She repeats herself a lot from thinking it to saying the same thing to whoever she is talking to. I was not a fan of the using Ben part. I understand that she was hurt and worried about Cooper using pot and all that because of the baby but to me she took things to extremes with everything and kept leading Cooper on. The only characters I like in this book was Cooper and Chris. They didn’t seem to be so dumb and immature. I wish that Emily was more mature in this book. If she had been I probably would of been able to enjoy it a little more.
