**REVIEW** Revealing Kia by Airicka Phoenix

18461891 The events of Claudia’s party were nothing more than a distant memory as far as Kia was concerned. She was ready to resume her life as though that night had never happened. But it’s a slippery slope keeping a secret and Kia’s about to learn just how hard when she’s faced with the truth and the consequences of her decision.

Adam Chaves was no stranger to girls wanting him. He was no stranger to breaking hearts, although never intentionally. What he didn’t understand was how Kia could undress him, touch him, burn him with her eyes and still keep him at arm’s length when it was evident how much it cost her. But what Kia didn’t realize was that he had never given up on anything in his life and he wasn’t about to start now. He would have his girl even if it meant he had to kidnap her to do it.

Amy's review

Lets start with saying this is book 2. The first book is Finding Kia and you can find my review for that HERE! After finishing the first book I basically begged the author for book 2 way before it was ready. Both books deserve way more then 5 stars.

I loved this book. I had it done within 4 hours. Her books are the only ones I seem to finish so fast. I get so engrossed time slips by until I am done with it. I still love the characters. They are great. Adam is hot and has to be my favorite out of all. Kia showed some spunkiness in this book. It was good to see her come out of her shell more. Van really aggravated me but I am glad she realized things before it was to late. Kenny was a trip.

I laughed a lot during this book. Adam and Kia are a funny pair. I felt for Adam when Kia kept picking Van over him. I tried to understand it but it was hard. Thankfully Kia stood up for herself. I hated Taylor and Claudia still. Loved the part between Kia and Claudia. Kia put the bitch in her place. Go Kia. 🙂

This is a great book. I said in my review of the first book that if you have not read any Airicka Phoenix books this is a good set to start with. Her writing is amazing. I am so glad I found her books. Definitely recommend. GO BUY NOW!!

Find the book

Amy’s Review

This one was a little hard for me. Let me start with the things I loved. I loved Lucca. He was sweet, handsome, generous, protective, caring, and loving. He was my favorite character. I loved Dominic and the fact that he punched Lucca. I loved that Lexi started to overcome her insecurities and gave love a chance. I love that she let Lucca in. One thing I really disliked was Cameron cheating on his girlfriend with Lucca’s sister.

The book was well written. The characters well played. Lots of details and description so you know how everything was. I have to admit that sometimes I felt there was to much descriptions. Yes I wanted to know how things were and looked but it seemed like everything was described in great detail to the point that I felt I was reading a book mainly about how everything looked.

The sex scenes were hot but there was a lot. If you were not reading about how something looked you were reading about them having sex. They seemed to be having sex every other page. Don’t get me wrong. They were hot scenes just a lot of them. I enjoyed them at the beginning but then towards the middle I started skipping them. Once I hit the middle I found myself skimming the rest of the book. I did enjoy the dialogue between Lucca and Lexi. They are a really cute couple.

Lexi’s past was horrific. I have read books about people with broken pasts but nothing like this one. I felt for her and was almost brought to tears reading the little I did about it.

I found by the end of the book I had mixed feelings about it. I loved some but didn’t care for other parts. Would I recommend this book to others? Yes I would because even though this book was not one of my most favorites it was still a good book and my opinion is just that mine. Will I read book two when it is released? Yes I will. I would love to see how things play out with this couple and how things play out with a certain someone from the past.  I really wanted to loved this whole book and I hate that I don’t but I have high hopes for the next one.

***Review*** Scarred Love (Sulfur Heights #1) by M.S. Brannon

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00008] “I am certain, without any doubt, she was meant to be in my life. We belong to each other. I spent too much of my time consumed with what everyone else thinks of my feelings for Darcie, but the truth is, it was always supposed to be this way.” ~Reggie Evans

Darcie Claiborne spent several years of her young life living with a monster, always fearing what he would do next. Clasping onto her last ounce of hope, Darcie releases a scream. It’s her final attempt to live; to survive the villain of her reality. Sweeping her up in his arms, Darcie’s knight in shining armor rescues her from the hell she’s been living; from the stepfather she’s feared for all those years.

The growing love for the man who saved her life three years ago, the same man who’s nine years older. All the while, Reggie fights to protect Darcie from the demons of her past and new ones of her present.

**Mature Content Warning** 17+ for language and sexual content**

Nicole’s Review ~

Oh my goodness this book was absolutely fan-freakin-tastic. I have no clue even where to start with my review it was that good. As many of you who follow my reviews know I am a huge fan of the not so pretty love stories or stories that are just hard to take. This book is that kind of book hands down. I was sucked in from the very first paragraph, yes that’s right it didn’t even take me a full page to want more from this book.

Darcie what to say this young lady has had a life that is a nightmare. The kind of nightmare most people would not survive and in Darcie’s case didn’t want to survive. That is until she meets her knight in shinin armor. Reggie is a young man who has been dealt some crap hands in life but has managed to take care of his 3 younger brothers.

Reggie takes Darcie into his household and assumes full responsibility for her. However Darcie is no longer a 14 year teenager and neither one of them are prepared for the feelings that are no longer “older brother, younger sister”. Reggie knows he needs to keep his distance but he finds it hard to when Darcie is still dealing with demons he has vowed to keep away. He also has two huge things from both of their past haunting his every step. Darcie herself has become a hardened girl who fights her demons through throwing punches.

Along with Darcie and Reggie there is Jake and Jeremy twins, then you have Drake the youngest brother. From the first you are also introduced to Presley who is young girl that is going to be the person who brings Darcie’s past to the present and no one is prepared for what is to come.

You will find your heart breaking for these characters, you will be laughing at some of the things come out of these characters mouths. You will fall in love with Reggie and wish you had a man like him that will protect you from every single bad thing out there. I highly and I mean HIGHLY recommend this book. This book is part of a series but it is not a cliffhanger it appears each book continues with the other brothers. I am looking forward to reading more about this family.

**REVIEW** Only For You by E.L. Todd

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00004]

When Scarlet realized Penelope was dumping Sean, her best friend, she was devastated. Penelope was the love of his life, the woman of his dreams. Scarlet knew how far her best friend was going to fall and she had to catch him. Scarlet became Sean’s rock and helped him through a very painful breakup, but her own hidden desires bubbled to the surface in the process. When they finally gave in and slept together, she thought it was the start of their new relationship. Unfortunately, Sean didn’t feel the same.

Humiliated and heartbroken, Scarlet moved across the country and found what she least expected. She rekindled her damaged relationship with her brother, who she hadn’t spoken to in a year, and her brother’s best friend was attractive and interesting. Their relationship was natural and unforced, and she was immediately drawn to him. Would she be able to get over Sean, forget about him, by sleeping with Cortland, or would that just be another repeated mistake?

Amy’s Review:

What to say? The beginning of the book for me was a little slow. It took me a few chapters to finally get sucked in to the story. Did I get sucked in? Of course. The book was well written and once I got in a few chapters I didn’t want to put it down. Some of the things were a little predictable between Sean and Scarlet but plenty kept you on your toes.

I loved Scarlet. At first I thought she is nuts for acting like she did during a certain part but then I thought about it and honestly women mistaken things like that often. So I understood. It was sad to see her heart broken but nice to see her pull herself back together. To watch her relationship with her brother was awesome. I have a brother that I am very close to like them and it made me smile to read about them.

“Should I enroll you at daycare?” I asked. “So you can find some new friends to play with?”

“Actually, I wouldn’t mind that at this point. My own sibling is too busy for me.”

Sean on the other hand had mixed feelings from me. I loved him then I was mad at him and with the ending I’m just not sure how I feel about him. I think the ending did save him some but the fact that he went to her and still saying in his head that he still loved the ex just rubbed me the wrong way. If you’re not completely over the ex you have no right to tell someone new that you love them and to start a relationship with them. That has me worried for Scar.

Cortland had me laughing. At one point I did wish that him and Scar ended up together and she said screw Sean. I loved him and how he was with Scar. Would love to read more about him.

So basically I loved all the characters. They were all played out well. There are some steamy sex scenes. Which if I had to admit to anything it would be that I actually laughed at the dialogue during these scenes. I know that people really do talk like that in real life during sex but it was the first time I read it like that in a book and it actually threw me off a little. All in all a great book. Would definitely recommend it.

About the Author

My journey to this profession was slightly unorthodox. I received my bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, worked as an award-winning researcher, and worked various jobs to pay the bills. While I enjoyed every moment of this adventure, it wasn’t my passion. I’ve been writing since I was a young girl and have read anything that I can get my hands on. When people ask me what my favorite book is, I always respond, “All of them.”

After I showed my work to my closest friends and gained their confidence, I realized that this is something I could commit my life to, something that I love. I never imagined–dreamed–that I could make a living as a writer. This is the greatest profession that I ever could have asked for, and I am so thankful for the support from everyone in my life. How many other jobs let you work in your pajamas?

My first novel, Soul Catcher, was released in August 2013, and my second novel, Soul Binders, will be released this fall. The Saga concludes in early 2014. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this series as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.

***Review*** Dead Heat (Bluegrass Series #3) by Kathleen Brooks

91F6zf21JmL__SL1500_ In the third book of the Bluegrass Series, Paige Davies finds her world turned upside down as she becomes involved in her best friends’ nightmare. The strong-willed Paige doesn’t know which is worse: someone trying to kill her, or losing her dog to the man she loves to hate.

FBI Agent Cole Parker can’t decide whether he should strangle or kiss this infuriating woman of his dreams. As he works the case of his career, he finds that love can be tougher than bringing down some of the most powerful men in America

Nicole’s Review ~

I think this is probably my favorite of the series, I love when a story is finally complete and you get to see how everything played out. Plus hello, Cole *sigh*, I have absolutely loved watching Cole and Paige relationship blossom. Never mind the fact that we get to met all of Paige’s brothers, this time Cy is brought into the picture.

The bantering between Cole and Paige is so refreshing, add in a little bit of the Rose Sisters and you are in heaven giggling your booty off. Cole as the FBI Agent in charge of seeing the criminal ring brought to justice and Paige the best friend who has now been placed in danger must work together. Cole comes up with what he thinks is a perfect plan of living with and acting as Paige’s boyfriend is the best way to protect her. When Cole has to come face to face with all the brothers it is hilarious and endearing how he does not back down from them.

There is a whole lot of suspense from the start to the end. We pick up right where Risky Shot ends, Kenna and Danni have been shot. Paige then starts hearing and seeing things that are starting to scare her, thankfully Cole is always there protecting her. Paige is so confused throughout most of the book because her pretend boyfriend seems like her real boyfriend and men being dense Cole doesn’t realize that she thinks this is all an act. Boy oh Boy when he realizes his mistake it might cost him the woman he has grown to love.

So if you are looking for a sweet, funny, suspense filled romance this is the book for you. Just a reminder you do need to read the first two books in this series.

***Double Review*** Charred Heart (Heart of Fire #1) by Lizzy Ford

81gvKc63kuL__SL1500_ Modern day retelling of “Beauty and the Beast”

***Recommended for ages 18+ due to multiple, creative, detailed, steamy, sexy-time adult situations.***

For a thousand years, Chace has searched for a way to break the curse placed on him by a jilted lover. He’s a dragon shifter, one who can’t control when the magic will force him into a different form. He’s already lost everyone he ever cared about a few times over and doesn’t know how much longer he’s meant to suffer.

At his wit’s end, he makes a deal with a mysterious figure that offers him what he wants most – an end to his misery – in exchange for everything that’s his: His life, his power. His heart.

The next day, he meets Skylar, a modern day dragon slayer whose mission is to cage him – or kill him. Sexy, witty and brave, she is the yin to his yang, the woman destined to break the curse, balance his magic and make his broken heart whole.

Except it’s too late. Not only has he sealed his fate, but an innocent one-night-stand with Skylar has dragged her into the middle of a deal with the devil, one she won’t escape, if he can’t convince her that dragon shifters aren’t her enemies.

Amy’s Review ~

What can be said about this book. Yet another great book by Lizzy Ford. This was my first dragon shifter book and for me it was great. There is a cliffhanger but nothing like the normal ones you find at the end of books. This book was written well. Had some hot steamy scenes in it. Definitely for 18+.

The characters were great. I loved all but Mr. Nothing, Caleb, and Dillon. I actually didn’t mind Dillon till late in the book when my feelings changed. Dillon is the son of Caleb and Caleb runs a facility that captures shifters. I hated the place as soon as I started reading about it.

Chase -dragon shifter- is awesome. I loved his character and how he had a safe place for the other shifters. Loved his cabin too.

Skyler was pretty awesome too. I love the indecision’s she has and the back and forth with what to do and believe. I think the two made an awesome couple.

I loved Gunner. Mason Rocked. Mr. Nothing pissed me off at the end. Lots of different emotions played out while reading this book. Everything played out perfectly. The book was written well. No dull moments. Definitely some steamy sex scenes. All in all a great book. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Definitely recommend this book.

Nicole’s Review ~

Holy hotness batman, this is Lizzy’s steamiest read yet. Lizzy amazes me with every book that she releases especially when she steps into a new genre/territory. I have never read a dragon shifter book before and Lizzy has made it to the point that I will be looking for them. Chace is smoking hot and Skylar is a witty sexy woman. These two have chemistry that will light up your reading device.

Chace is a 1000 year old dragon shifter who wants nothing more than to be human again. He goes so far as to make a deal with a man named Mr. Nothing to give up his magic to become a human. Sky is a young woman who believes that shifter are nothing but murders and is what we call a dragon slayer. Her mission is to take in these shifters and bring them back to a compound where they are suppose to be rehabilitated. When Chace and Sky met for the first time they are both overwhelmed by the strong attraction they have to one another. At this point is when the book gets super steamy.

There are so many twist and turns through out this story you will find yourself wondering what is going to happen next. Sky has been remembering things that shouldn’t be and Chace is starting to put two and two together and find that what Sky has been told is not the truth. I love how Lizzy intertwined these two characters to the point that Chace truly does need Sky. Unfortunately they are both fighting for what they believe in and in the end one of them is going to make a decision for themselves that could end up destroying everything.

Chace and Sky have a hilarious bantering relationship, that will have you giggling. There are moments where Chace will melt your heart and again the sex scenes are smoking hot. There are many secondary characters that you will met and I for one cannot wait to see what develops with them. Be prepared for a crazy cliffhanger but at the same time some of the missing pieces will start to fit. If you love paranormal reads that are little bit spicy this is definitely the read for you.

***Review*** In My Arms (Philadelphia Series 1) by Taryn Plendl

81gvmKOLlpL__SL1500_ He’s deliciously handsome and completely arrogant. Exactly the last thing Ava needs on her first night out following her bad breakup.

New to the Philadelphia area, Trevor is instantly taken with Ava’s beauty and witty attitude. After sharing an unexpected but amazing kiss, Trevor manages to stick his foot in his mouth and watches as Ava walks out of his life before he has a chance to explain.

When the two unexpectedly cross paths again, they struggle with the undeniable chemistry between them. Ava fights to keep it platonic, afraid to get hurt again as Trevor sets out to change her mind.

With a little bit of humor, lots of drama, sexual frustration, dancing and plenty of alcohol, Ava realizes that Trevor just might actually be perfect for her.

Due to language and sexual content, this book is recommended for 17+.

Nicole’s Review ~

This was a sweet, cute and QUICK read. I grabbed this book awhile back and if memory serves it was free at the time. It had the possiblity to be a 5 star read but it was so short and just everything felt overly rushed yet drug out all at the same time.

Trevor is wonderful would love to be in Ava’s place at the bar the night they first met. Ava granted has gone through a nasty breakup seemed young and childish in some ways that actually was a little frustrating. The secondary characters Talia, Nick and Tom are a great addition to this story and I have to admit the banter between Nick and Talia had me giggling.

What I enjoyed the most about this read was that it was written in both Ava and Trevor’s point of views. For me when I can read a book and have both sides it is so much more enjoyable. Also there were several spicy scenes that might have you drooling or wishing you were Ava.
Taryn did a fantastic job of building up the characters along with the story as a whole. You will giggle, feel for Ava, you will be rooting on Talia. I am sorry this isn’t my usual review but to be honest this book is that short and I absolutely will not do spoilers. What I will tell you if you are looking for a fast and sweet romance this is the book for you.

About the Author ~

I discovered my love for books at an early age, spending many hours lost in someone else’s story.

It wasn’t until well into adult hood that I discovered, late at night while the house was quiet, that I had just as many stories inside me just waiting to be let out. Writing has been a way for me to step away from reality and live a bit through my fun and sometimes damaged characters. You will almost always find a Happy Ever After at the end of my stories. I can’t help it, it’s an addiction.

I’m a Southwestern girl living a Mid-Atlantic life with my husband of seventeen years and two incredible daughters who inspire me daily. I am proud to be an advocate for my child with autism, and feel incredibly blessed to be able to see the world through her eyes. She teaches me more than I could ever teach her.

I enjoy reading, writing and spending time with my family, but cherish those quiet nights after everyone is asleep when I can curl up on the couch with my fifteen year old dog (Shh, don’t tell…He’s not supposed to be on the couch.)
Keep an eye out for more from me!

***Review*** The Dark Proposal (The End of Eternity 1) by Megan Cashman

image A young woman copes with being forced to become a vampire as the man she loves reveals he is more evil than she can comprehend.

Claire McCormick has graduated from college and is eager for her new life to begin. She thought it would happen when she began dating Daniel Bertrand, who was everything she wanted in a boyfriend. But just as her dreams are about to come true, Claire’s life is turned upside down when Daniel reveals to be a bloodthirsty vampire, with the intent on making her his eternal companion. No matter how much Claire tries to rid herself of him, Daniel is too evil to defeat. She has to come to terms with reality, as she faces a vampire world fighting to survive in modern times, with many of them unaware of how devious Daniel can be.

The Dark Proposal is the first book in a trilogy that follows what becomes of Claire and the vampires.

WARNING: contains thematic elements, explicit content and some strong language

Nicole’s Review ~

I received a copy of this book in return for my honest review. I posted on our blog page the other day that I wanted a dark and twisted read this book was offered up by the author. Beyond any shadow of doubt she gave me what I was looking for. She warned me that this was not a happily ever after or romance story at first I was like hmm normally all my books even my dark reads are romance but. Said why the hey give it a try. I am so very glad I did, there is a hint of romance or at least what you think is going to be romance but as you read you find out that it is nothing more than a game being played.

Claire is your typical college graduate down in her luck working part time while trying to become an established freelance writer. Daniel is the somewhat older English professor who also happens to be a freelance writer. They have a chance meeting at the school where Claire is completely taken by Daniel’s looks and knowledge. Daniel offers to help guide Claire in becoming a better writer. This is where you begin to think that a romance is going to bloom they start spending loads of time together and have some intimate moments. Claire’s roommates start question their relationship when she starts to spending more and more time with Daniel.

Claire being a young woman only sees the bright side of the time they are spending together she doesn’t notice the subtle controlling nature Daniel has with her. All she knows is that this man has so many of the same interest with her and she is tired if being alone or feeling like an outsider. At this point is when the story really starts getting good. The twist and turns that this relationship goes through is bone crushing and heart pounding. Claire begins to think she is losing her mind when Daniel reveals he is not what he has portrayed himself to be.

Claire has to make the decision of being turned into a vampire or watch as her family and friends are slowly murdered. She at first fights it tooth and nail because she cannot imagine living a life killing people. Daniel does a fantastic job of showing her how he will go to whatever lengths to make her into what he wants. What I love the most is in the back of your head you are wow he really wants to spend the rest of his life with her and then you feel the slap through the page and you are so taken back that you don’t know what to think.

All I can tell you is if you are looking for a great vampire read this is the one for you. There is no glittery, playing in the beach vampires in this book, these are the ones of your nightmares. Megan did a wonderful job building the relationships between Claire and Daniel along with all the secondary characters. I cannot wait for book 2 to hit shelves because I am dying to know where Claire and Daniel are going to end up.
