***Review of Text by Cambria Hebert***
***This is a new adult contemporary novel and contains sexual content and graphic language. It is not intended for young adult readers.***
Honor Calhoun never thought her life would ever be like the books she writes for a living. One morning while out for a run, she learns not all bad things are plots in novels. Some horrors can actually come true.
She faces off with a persistent attacker, holds her own, but in the end is taken hostage and thrown into a hole. In the middle of the woods.
But Honor didn’t go down there alone.
She took her kidnapper’s phone with her. But with a spotty signal and a dying battery, hope is slim.
Nathan Reed is an active duty Marine stationed at a small reservist base in Pennsylvania. All he wants is a calm and uneventful duty station where he can forget the memories of his time in a war-torn country.
But a single text changes everything.
Nathan becomes Honor’s only hope for survival, and he has to go against the clock, push aside his past, and take on a mission for a girl he’s never met.
Both of them want freedom… but they have to survive long enough to obtain it.
Nicole’s Review ~
I have a confession to make this is the first book I have read by Cambria, I own several of them just never had the chance to read them. I can tell you after reading Text they will all be read here and I am very sure it will be in a short amount of time. Truth be told I was going to get this one as well and finishing getting caught up on some other books before I read this one also. Every time I opened another book all I could think about was Text, the synopsis just pulled me in and I knew that I had to read this book. Man oh Man am I totally glad I did, I love books that are different or don’t follow the rules of the whole boy meets girl scenario and this book had this in spades.
From page one you are sucked into these characters, sometimes you are cringing and praying things are going to work out. At other times you are cheering them on rooting for them to win this battle. Honor might actually be my new heroine, she is feisty, playful, survivor, talented and loving. When you first meet her you almost feel as if you already know her or at the very least get to know her. The fight she puts up to save herself is absolutely amazing and it makes me hope that if something terrible ever happened to me I would be as strong as her.
Nathan *sigh* who doesn’t love a military man especially a Marine, I for one am a sucker for all things military. Nathan is this courageous, tormented, loyal and kind man who you just want to wrap your arms around and tell him everything will be alright. The way Nathan handled himself and the situation he found himself in from that one tiny text was awe inspiring. His many years of military training came to the fore front and he knew there was nothing that was going to stop him.
Honor and Nathan touched me in a way that hasn’t happened in a long time. The instant attraction they feel. The way the both rely on each other and are completely upfront and honest is so touching. They are so playful with one another that you actually find yourself grinning even when their story isn’t so happy at the moment.
“A slow smile spread across his face. “You won’t need the phone, then, sweetheart, because you’ll be the one beneath me.” ~ Nathan
Cambria did an absolutely fantastic job pulling you into the story of a young woman and a young man who are fighting to save her life. Her words show you the scenes as you read and your imagination is fully used there is never that moment when you’re like huh and have to go back and read again. Honor and Nathan is a love story for everyone that wants a little bit of steamy, suspense, drama, smiles and romance. I would highly recommend this to anyone over the age of 18!!!
