Dirty Blood

I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that’s not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted – and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock… And that was the moment he showed up.

Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And Two, I was born to kill them.

5 STARS!!!!!

This was my first time to read a book by Heather Hildenbrand – – and all I can say is WOW – What an awesome author!!! I just love finding new authors that I haven’t read their works before – and then finding out what a good job they do!!!

Tara Godfrey is just a normal girl until something happens that changes her life completely!! Tara breaks up with her boyfriend and sends him home – only thing is she doesn’t have a ride home. On her walk to the bus stop, she comes across a girl in distress (or so she thought) – when she tries to help the girl, something totally out of the norm happens. The girl changes into a wold and attacks Tara. Tara is totally surprised and caught off guard but somehow Tara manages to survive.

From this point on Tara’s life changes – she finds out things about herself, her family and more. I am not one to spoil books for people so I will leave the rest for you to find out for yourself.

The characters in this book are well developed and the plot is smooth and quick-paced. I love the writing style of Heather and found this book hard to put down!! I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Cold Blood

Wood Point Academy is not at all what I expected. For one thing, it looks like a cross between military school and Buckingham Palace. Everyone stares, the floors shine so bright you can see your reflection in them from a mile away, and no one smiles. Unless they’re kicking your butt in the process.

At least I’ve got plenty to take my mind off the fact that my psycho cousin, Miles De’Luca, keeps calling and declaring his love and promising to come for me just as soon as he’s destroyed anyone standing in our way. Wes isn’t going to like that idea. So between Miles, Wood Point’s evil welcoming committee, and the drill sergeant hottie trainer from hell, I just keep asking myself, how did I end up here?

5 STARS!!!!!

I loved the first book in this series and I am totally impressed by how the author continues with this book. Let me state this to begin with – – you MUST MUST MUST read the first book of the series (DIrty Blood) before you read this book!!!

The first book (Dirty Blood) ends with Tara being expelled from school for hitting a girl. This story starts with Tara being sent away to Wood Point Academy. Wood Point is a school for training Hunters. But Tara just can’t win for loosing, she learns that the students at the school hate her because she is dirty blood – or hybrid and she starts calling herself. She does make a few friends.

I don’t want to say too much in regards to the story line – I just hate when people post SPOILERS like that. But I can say that I am looking forward to the next book in the series to see where Heather takes Tara and Wes.

I can say that this is the type book that you will find hard to put down. The story line keeps you interest spiked!!!

Hybrids.

If I had to choose one word to sum up all of my problems, this would be it.
Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to watch my best friend slowly becoming a monster. Without hybrids, I could let go of the mentality “hunt or be hunted.” CHAS wouldn’t be scouring the Earth, intent on slaughtering and using Alex to do it. Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to be on guard that losing my temper meant losing my shape. There would be no monster inside me, struggling to get out.

Then again, without hybrids, I wouldn’t have Wesley St. John.

5 STARS!!!!!

Heather Hildenbrand has got to be my new favorite author – at least for now. I love this series and just cannot get enough of it. It takes a really good book for me to say that I was up until 3 am reading because the book was just too good to put down!!!

You have to make sure you read the other 2 books of the series before reading Blood Bond. They flow from one right into the next. From start to finish, this book had me memorized – as did the other 2 in the Dirty Blood series. Following Tara and Wes and the decisions that she has to make is amazing. The plot moves at the perfect pace – and you (the reader) will fall in love with the characters and think that you are there with them.

Heather Hildenbrand is an amazing author.

Blood Rule

Forty-six.
That’s how many hybrids survived the Hunter attack in the woods after I revived them with an injection of my blood. That’s how many followed me home to Frederick Falls. And that’s how many were now mentally linked to me through a blood bond.

Two days. Three valium. Fourteen hours of sleep.
That’s what it took to realize I wasn’t losing my mind as a result of the noise in my own head.

Sixteen.
That’s how many days have passed since I almost killed Alex. That’s how many days I’ve sat by his bedside, waiting for him to wake up. To ease the guilt, to understand his betrayal, to remember the exact shade of brown in his eyes.

Zero.
That’s my chances of skating by with Gordon Steppe and the Hunter Council. They want me for questioning. I’m afraid what’ll happen if I give them answers.

Sue’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

I had never read any of Heather Hildenbrand’s books until I was asked to read the Dirty Blood Series. I LOVE the way she writes and this series is amazing.

Blood Rule started just where Blood Bond just left off. With Alex in a coma (as a result of her biting him), she makes sure to visit him and hope for the best. Tara also faces many new challenges with her pack. Vera’s health is declining – but she passes on a lot of useful information to Tara. So many things happen in this book that it really keeps your attention and had me on the end of my seat.

And THEN – I will not say any more – I do NOT want to give away anything. BUT, let me say this – – the ending caught me totally by surprise and my comment to a friend at the time was “Omg – I do NOT believe she stopped this book where she did!!” Now I want to know when the heck is the next book going to be out?? I am dying to know what happens next.
