We all have a story. This is mine…
After tragedy struck our neighborhood, my family and I packed up and moved from our little city home in California to the backwoods of Minnesota. Even at the young age of six, I noticed my surroundings weren’t the only thing that changed.
I learned what fear was. I was scared of the unknown, frightened of failing and terrified of my father coming home.
I thought I escaped it.
Old habits die hard and I continued to live in that fear as an adult. Childhood memories haunted my every step, thought and action. I lived for other’s happiness, denying my own…until I just couldn’t deny it any longer.
I finally escaped.
Hi, I’m Maggie Reed and I’m a survivor.
Chad asked me to a movie. Mom said I could go as long as his parents picked me up and brought me home. Chad and his father picked me up at seven o’clock on a Saturday night and dropped us off at the theater. We held hands and smiled as we watched the movie together. It was completely sweet and innocent.
After the movie, we went to the sub shop across the street and enjoyed a late night snack. We talked about school and then split a dessert, one milk shake and two straws. * swoon *
Chad’s father picked us up and drove me home. Chad got out of the car and walked me to my front door. I knew this was the moment I had been waiting for, my first real kiss. Nope, instead, he reached up and shook my hand. What a little gentleman.
I used to ride my bike eight miles into town to hang out with him and his family. His sister was a couple of years older than us, and she was so cool. She taught me how to wear my eye makeup and how to line my lips. She was like the big sister I had always wanted.
Chad and I dated for a few months. We decided, for whatever reason, we were better off as friends. *We must have been right because we’re still friends to this day. He’s still a sweet guy even though he has his odd moments.* * wink *
As the innings progressed and the Sox started raking in the runs, the crowd became livelier. Mr. Tattoo would turn around and flirt a little, making small talk. Sometimes he’d add his panty-wetting grin as an embellishment. He had no idea how effective it really was. I wanted him. By the time the seventh inning stretch came, to say we were drunk was an understatement. In keeping with Fenway tradition, the music started and we all chimed in on cue, “SWEEEEEEEEET CAROLINNNNNEEEEE BOM BOM BOM!” At that moment, Bentley jumped over the seats, grabbed my hands and pulled me to dance. ‘Can this really be happening?’ I thought. While still managing to enjoy the music and dance like idiots, I noticed that each of my friends was looking on with a measure of concern. But this moment and inside the moment, Bentley and I were perfect together. “GOOD TIMES NEVER FELT SO GOOD! SOO GOOD! SOO GOOD! SOO GOOD!” After the short-lived dance, the tough-looking, mysterious man dropped to his knee serenading me for all to see. Though my face lit up red out of embarrassment, I had never been serenaded before and enjoyed every minute of it. The ballpark photographers all clamored over to take a picture of the scene Bentley had created on the third baseline, clicking away in hopes of selling some souvenirs. When the song ended, he took my hand and placed a small kiss on it, dropped it and headed towards the exit, as though he had planned his early musical exit all along. His touch completely clouded my senses. The rush he caused in me was strongly euphoric, to the extent of which I had never experienced in my entire life. I wanted to touch him back but I was too frozen in shock to go after him. The onlookers which packed the rows around us had mixed responses to the display. Some stood with their mouths hanging open, while others whispered with their respective neighbors and some cracked jokes about my new boyfriend. The fact was they knew I never get serious about anyone. I had dated around through college, but had never taken a serious boyfriend. I wasn’t planning on doing so until I was done with college in a year. I had too much riding on my last year of college, including a full-time, real world job. I was never going to see him again and a flood of disappointment washed over me. But it didn’t matter, he was gone. That realization flooded me with both disappointment and longing. This beautiful man, who had just sent such a raw desire through me, was gone. Even more than before, I felt I didn’t just want his touch, but that I needed it. I was helpless against the power of my timidity and the strength of the rules which I’d given myself. “I think I am going to head out for one last beer before the game ends.” I headed in the general direction of my new fetish. Jake threw in his two cents. “Uh huh, like you need another beer. Good luck finding him. He’s long gone!” I let out a laugh and hurried away. Making my way down the tunnel my head spun back and forth in search of Bentley. After a few minutes, I gave up. On the way back from my disappointing search, I stopped for a beer. As I reached the section entry, I heard a voice behind me, “You were just going to let me walk away like that?” My heart soared. I turned around to find my new obsession standing so close to me that I could smell him. The mixture of cologne and beer was heavenly. He took me in his arms, right there in the tunnel for anyone to see, putting his arm around my waist tightly, the other on my face softly. As he brushed his knuckles down my cheek, he leaned in and brushed his lips against mine. His lips were warm and inviting. He tasted delicious, of mint mixed with beer. I melted in his arms. The way he made me feel in that moment was so foreign. He might as well have stripped me naked and taken me against the wall with the sensations that were going through my body. The kiss was unlike anything I had felt before. After his romantic gesture he let me go and backed away repeating his question. “Ugh… What the hell? I don’t know where your mouth has been!” I stuttered out. I couldn’t speak worth a shit. What the hell was wrong with me? His spell was potent, so much so that I couldn’t speak. I stuttered out something incoherent. Even I have no idea what I said. He let out a little chuckle at my bitchy demeanor. I was just stuck and confused. Why in hell was I letting this guy touch me and kiss me? The only explanation was that I had officially lost my damn mind. I had tried for years to control my damn behavior and now I was ruining all my hard work by losing control in public? “I’ll take your response as a good thing,” he said, grinning. As he walked away from me I was finally able to breathe again. When he put his arms around me, he’d made me feel naked. I watched him head for the entrance to our seating section, my clothing feeling suddenly constrictive. “I don’t need a guy in my life right now anyway!” I mumbled as I walked back to my seat. As I rounded the corner there was Shay and Jake chatting it up with Bentley. They’re conspiring with the enemy! When they noticed me they pretended like they weren’t doing anything wrong. There was no way I was letting Shay get away with it. As much as I didn’t want to admit to myself that Bentley had made an impression on me, he was the only thing on my mind. The game ended and Shay and I stumbled back to our apartment only a couple of blocks away. When I hit my bed I knew I had overdone it with the alcohol for the night and I was out in seconds.

Before tonight Cassie Tate’s biggest concerns were whether she could pass Algebra and how she was going to keep Elora, her best friend, from dressing her in a skimpy fairy costume for Halloween. Her feet were firmly planted in suburban reality and she had no reason to believe her life would be anything but that of a typical teenager. That is until tonight, when Cassie saw something that no human was ever supposed to see; in the blink of an eye she was thrown into the world of the Light and Dark Elves.
He comes from a realm where light and dark have fought for millennia. He is of a race known to humans only in myths and legends. His life is not his own; he lives in the service of the Dark Elf King. He slays who he must, has mercy on no one, is relentless in his hunt, and never tires of seeing his prey fall. He is Triktapic, assassin, spy, most feared of the Dark Elves.
Now, in the midst of his King’s complicated plans to expand the Dark Elves’ holdings into the mortal realm, for the first time, Trik finds his loyalties divided. For no Elf, Dark or Light, can turn away from their Chosen.
Unbeknownst to the mortal realm, the battle between Light and Dark is being brought to their doorstep. The only one who can keep it at bay holds darkness in his heart like a lover, and the one who can sway that heart must decide if she can look beyond his black past, beyond his evil nature and see the man he is destined to be.
The questions must be asked, does love really cover a multitude of sins? Can true love actually conquer all or will his darkness consume those around him until all that stands is an assassin with the blood of the mortal realm on his hands?

The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted – and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock… And that was the moment he showed up. Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And Two, I was born to kill them.

But eventually they learn that not much about their existence can be normal. Especially when the Races’ two commanding Goddesses are involved. One of the Goddesses is on a quest to tilt the scale of power to her side. The other will never let it happen, even if it means kicking Jatred and Jasmira’s love to the curb. They are trapped in an ancient Amulet in order to protect the stability of the world. For more than a year, Tanner West has tried to shake his feelings for his long time best friend, Paisley Bronson. She was the perfect girl to fit the lyrics in all his favorite songs – the girl he had always wanted. When she fell in love with another man before Tanner had the chance to tell her how he felt, he was left with no resolve to find love again. Burying himself in school and easy girls has become his new lifestyle, but when Kellee Brooks shows up at his favorite bar, he begins to think there may be another verse to his song, after all.
Kellee Brooks moved to New York City for one thing: escape. Growing up in a small town where her entire life was planned out for her, she’s desperate to break free and find herself without following the same path as her mom. Kellee thought working at the local dive bar would mean more money for school, but when she meets the smoldering, scarred honey eyes of Tanner West, she finds there’s much more hiding in the smoky building than just a few tips.
With Paisley still haunting Tanner and Kellee vowing to save anyone the trouble of loving her, will the pain and fear keep them apart – or will they find a way to rewrite their song together?
Break free with this heartbreaking story of letting go and letting love in.
From almost the very beginning, I was pulled into the tangled mess of Tanner’s mind and heartbreak. He is such a HOT mess. Tanner has always loved Paisley, pairing her with every song he’s ever heard. Unfortunately for Tanner, he almost ruined their friendship by pouring his heart out to her, trying to “steal” her from the relationship Paisley is in. Kellee is struggling, working in Sal’s bar and restaurant to put herself through college. Kellee has her own dysfunctional family situation she that is breaking her heart and slowly killing her spirit. When a second chance encounter brings Tanner and Kellee together, sparks fly and hearts get broken all over again.
I really loved Kellee! She was open and spunky, but still managed to be tender. Tanner had his moments where I wanted to smack him & hug him. When they are together, sparks fly and clothes catch fire. Unfortunately, tears flow and hearts are also shattered.

I knelt down in front of him and raised a tissue toward his face. In a flash he had me by my wrist.
“What are you doing?” His suspicion of me made me want to laugh. It was so ironic.
“I’m cleaning the blood off your face. Believe me, it needs to be done.”
“It hurts too much for you to touch it.” He released my wrist.
I reached my hand up to his face and slowly began to wipe the blood from his chin and then his lips. I cupped the side of his face in my other hand to keep his head steady.
“Alone at last,” he whispered.
“Was it everything you hoped it would be?”
“It will be.”
Tie reached out and brushed a strand of hair away from my face. The light contact on my cheek gave me goose bumps.
“You could do it, you know.”
“You could heal me.” He said it without any hesitation.
I stopped wiping the blood from his face and gave him a steady look. His gaze never wavered, and this time there was no smug little smile to contend with, just a very unfamiliar expression of sincerity.
My face was only a few inches from his, but I couldn’t work up the energy to put more distance between us. His confidence and knowledge about my gift made me feel nervous and happy all at the same time.
I wanted to pour out my heart to him and tell him everything I was capable of. I wanted to show him what I could do. I wanted to heal him.
Then I remembered who he was and why he was here. If I healed him there would be no going back.

The days are dark and terrifying for the defending forces of the Alliance, a steadfast coalition of elves, dwarves, gnomes and humans. Yet dual lights of hope spring from the lush forests of Celes’tia… Rosabela, an elven shapeshifter and healer, and her twin brother Wavren, a hunter and beastmaster, leave their home to join the Protectors of the Vale, an elite band of heroes who are the world’s best defense against the dark forces. Just as he was preparing to meld into the darkness himself, a voice called out in poor, but understandable, common: “Wel-come to For’stedge, ci-ty of the orcs,” the voice called loudly. You have walk-ed right in-to our trap.” Captain Helio froze and scanned the area with his fine night vision. He saw no one, which was inexplicable given the nature of elven sight. He knew he was exposed, but his men were not. They would cover him at all costs, so he dared to call out to the orc. “You say we have walked into your trap, but I see no warriors. I think you are foolishly all alone, but I admire your courage. Come out and settle this in the open; settle this according to the code of honor the orcs claim to live by.” Captain Helio was scanning the streets carefully and still saw no one. He knew the entire Dae’gon Alliance Army was soon to arrive. He held his position, wondering if the orc would in fact show himself. He decided to move out of sight just in case. As he silently became one with the shadows, he carefully drew his wickedly curved polearm from its strap on his back. He crept forward a few steps and felt a tiny, almost imperceptible, breeze across the back of his neck. He knew he was no longer alone, but before he could react, a massive arm came in from behind, and searing pain shot through his back. As he looked down, he could see the tip of his attacker’s sword push through his fine armor. A voice whispered in poor common, “The war-ri-or code of hon-or is not my way. I am Night-shade, mas-ter of shadows.
Curtiss Robinson (1970-Present) was born in Key West, Florida, grew up in South Carolina, and joined the US Army in 1989. For twenty years he served in Ft. Bragg, NC, Schofield Barracks, HI, Ft. Bliss, TX and returned to work in Charleston, SCwith the SC Army National Guard. During his second combat tour (OEF 2007) he wrote his first adventure novel, “Protectors of the Vale”, which mirrored the successes and failures of his PMT team in Afghanistan. In 2009, wrote “Defenders of Griffon’s Peak” which further detailed the adventuers of his sword weilding and spell casting fantasy characters. Curtiss is a lifelong martial artist and RPG enthusiast which contributes greatly to his combat scenes and vivid imagery but it is love for epic heroes and tales of legend that fuel his love of writing.
The stalwart city of men takes up the fight against the Bloodcrest Forces in Defenders of Griffon’s Peak as the orcs of Dek’Thal build alliances with the worst of mankind…the fearsome assassin’s guild and a deadly pack of were-wolves. Ever in opposition, the Protectors of the Vale venture from the Far West to unite with the heroes of the Far East to defy the evil Bloodcrest Forces. Vlaad-the last human defender and champion of Griffon’s Peak and his beloved Theila, a warlock of dark magic, leave their home to hunt down the orc leader Gorka Darkstorm and put an end to his evil plans. Cunning assassins lie in wait at every turn, deadly were-wolves prowl through the night, and the worst fears imaginable stand between the heroes and their duty. Vlaad and Theila will need more than skill with a sword and sorcerous might to fight the evil looming before them as shields splinter, blood flies, and magic lights up the sky.
Vlaad was hammering away, as usual, when the smithy’s doorway became filled with a giant of a man. Vlaad stopped his work and turned to the visitor, noticing that the towering warrior stood nearly a foot taller than he.
“Hello friend and welcome to my shop. How may I be of service?” Vlaad asked pleasantly.
In a strange dialect that was a combination of unusually rolling consonants and dulled vowels the huge warrior said, “Vell met young mon, I ahm Andar Razamun of ze ‘interlandz and I ahm in need of repairz from many battlez. Can zhou ‘elp me?”
Vlaad was a little confused by the foreign accent. He thought the man said that his name was Andar and that he was from the Hinterlands. He just couldn’t be sure, but curiosity compelled him to smile and nod in response.
Andar said, “Bery vell. I can pay zhou now two gol’ coinz to make ze repairz. Do ve haf a dealz?”
The young smith wiped his palms off on his leather apron and extended his well-calloused hand to the warrior and said, “I will work on your armor, but you need only pay if you are satisfied with my services. I would like to hear about your adventures as a down payment if you would honor me with a few stories.”
Andar looked piercingly at the youth as if measuring him up. The young man stood barely six feet tall and was strong, but not unusually so. He had thick, dark eyebrows and a full goatee but had shaved his head completely bald like the elite guard of Griffon’s Peak. It wasn’t his physical appearance that caught Andar’s attention. He saw strength and discipline in the blacksmith’s deep brown eyes and sensed both honor and integrity within him like the knights of ancient legend. He asked, “Are zhou so zertain zhat I vill pay vhen ze verk is done? I ahm a stran-ger ‘ere and un-accustomed to such trust vrom utherz.”
Vlaad smiled as he ciphered through the thick accent. He was pretty sure the warrior asked if he was certain that the big man would pay after the work was complete, since he was a stranger that others did not usually trust. He nodded and repeated a phrase his O’ma had often said throughout the years: “Everyone pays sooner or later. It is only a matter of time. This is the law of justice to which we are all bound.”
The larger man thought for a moment and then laughed a deep and hearty laugh. He reached out and grasped the waiting hand Vlaad still held out to him. He shook it eagerly. Andar immediately noticed that although his hand dwarfed the blacksmith’s, there was great strength in Vlaad’s grip and the dark piercing eyes that he looked into were filled with fire and strength as well. This simple blacksmith was more than he appeared. He was ironically similar to the unshaped and untempered steel the blacksmith forged—ready to be formed into a keen and valuable blade. Andar Razamun was intrigued. He said, “I ‘ave ze story for zhou but it iz not my own adventure. It is ze legend of ze Zhield Vorrior.”

Filled mostly with dialog, she filled up one-hundred pages, front and back. After taking the book downstairs to show her mom, and persuading her to buy her more paper, she excitedly ran back to her room. As she barreled through the door, S.M. tripped over items left on her floor, and her papers came raining down in her room. Discouraged, she stood there in tears, picking up her papers and throwing them in the trash. Her work had no organization, no numbers on her pages, just a child fulfilling a joy that she would put down and not pick up again. When she became older, she joined the military for something different. In that time, she was able to explore many places and even met her husband in Iraq. After coming home, she started her family in Arizona and went back to school, earning a Master’s degree in Adult Education and Training.

Book Two in the Lost Souls Series
Regan has a life in Georgia. She is going to school, has managed to make some friends, and has even found a new love interest in Colter. So what happens when she can’t hide what she is anymore? When do all the lies become too much to handle? And how much longer can she hold onto her sanity—while Agro pushes her closer and closer to the edge of no return—her ascension to Elite?
Colter is beautifully oblivious. Wanting so much to believe that Regan is safe, and Agro has been halted, he ignores Finn’s constant skepticism at the risk of their friendship. Overlooking what is so clearly right in front of him, Colter passes off Regan’s outbursts of emotion on her recent trauma. Colter can feel Regan—his one exception to his retribution—slipping out of his arms, but fighting her to stay with him may not be an option.
Colter and Finn are now at odds, and there is a newly formed alliance between Kaiden and Exile Max. Will this group of Collectors be enough to fight off
the new enemies and old threats that emerge in the battle for souls when Regan is broken, and their group is on the brink of self-destruction?
The lost will be found, the Collectors will be exiled, and the Elites will reign.
About Book One, Retribution
Regan Edison has just moved from California, to enter her first year at Georgia Liberty College, the place where jacked up Chevy trucks and hunting are a way of life. Regan hopes to start a new life for herself and she thinks that Georgia is just the place to do it. That is until she meets an unexpected stranger.
Colter Hayes is a member of the Collectors, a group of wrongfully punished lost souls. Colter and the rest of his team, Finn, Kaiden and Devon, work for the Requiem Council who pass judgment on those souls that are neither tagged for Heaven nor Hell. The Council has charged the Collectors with finding the lost in exchange for a chance at redemption.
When an ex-councilmember known to pass Retribution on lost souls sets his sights on Regan, the Requiem Council dispatches the Collectors to Georgia to work as protectors for Regan. The Collectors must fight to save Regan from a fate they know all too well, but can they work to earn back their chance at redemption or are their fates sealed forever?
