(Can be read as a stand alone)
ROMANTIC COMEDY
~Addison Moore~

Marley Jackson has an axe to grind with the entire male population. After having her heart brutally broken, she’s out to prove to herself, and the world, that a woman only needs one thing from a man—and it isn’t love.
Wyatt James isn’t interested in anything that resembles a commitment. He’s self-made, secure, and happy to entertain a one-night stand any day of the week—enter Marley.
Marley quickly dispels the idea that she’s anybody’s one-night stand. What Marley has in store for Wyatt is far more complex and requires a binding contract to back it.
Marley and Wyatt aren’t in it for love. Marley is looking to glean some expertise in the bedroom. Wyatt is looking to find some solace after a string of nameless faces that have rocked his bed.
But when feelings change, and that four-letter word takes ahold of both their hearts, they’re left to face the fact they might be in deeper than either of them thought possible.
Marley and Wyatt smolder beneath the sheets.
She’s eager to learn—yet, bossy as hell.
He’s eager to lay down one hard lesson after the other, yet determined to save her from herself.
Sometimes heartbreak is the greatest teacher.
Sometimes it leads you into the arms of the one you belonged with right from the start.

“Aren’t I the lucky birthday boy?” His dimples dig in tight, no smile. There’s an earnestness about him that spells out orgasm in the making, and my thighs quiver because if I’m not careful I’ll achieve the big O before we ever get started.“Actually”—I clasp onto the tie that he’s neatly paired with dark denim and chukka boots, my all time favorite—“I’m the lucky one. I win because I have you.”

He winces before his dimples dig in ten times deeper.

“Clothes off.” The smile drops from his face. Wyatt is a man who is used to being pleased, when and how he wishes, and most likely by whomever he wants.

“Yes, Professor James.” I reach back and unzip my dress, letting it drop to the floor in a celebrated thump. I hook my thumbs into the sides of my panties and slowly pull them over my curves. Wyatt’s eyes float down to my hips. His chest expands as if he’s pleased with what he sees. I let them glide off, soft as a feather and carefully step out of the fabric puddle, wobbling on my heels in the process.

God, God, God, don’t fall! I do a little dance trying to right myself and land a few inches closer to him with my see-through lace bra and heels the only foreign objects on my body. I reach back and unhook my bra, letting the girls spring out like a couple of hopped up cheerleaders anxious for the big game. It slides off without any help on my part as if it were fleeing the scene. I take a deep breath and pull my shoulders back as his gaze heats my body by at least twenty degrees. “Your turn, cowboy.”

Release Day: True Violet by Vivian Winslow

True Violet by Vivian Winslow
The Violet Trilogy #3

The Gilded Flower Series #9

Genre: Erotic Romance
SYNOPSIS

In this final
installment of The Gilded Flower Series, shocking secrets are revealed and the
long-buried truth comes out.
Things are
heating up for Vi in Dubai, and it’s not just the desert climate. Vi is
starting to come into her own—having the hottest sex of her life and poised to take
over her father’s multinational conglomerate. Yet, her suspicions are confirmed
when she uncovers a plot to destroy not just her but her best friends’ lives.
With an unlikely ally, Vi seeks to ruin those behind the plot. Will Vi be able
to have it all and find her lasting happiness in the arms of the man she loves?

Excerpt

Chapter 26
Relief spreads over Vi during breakfast as she politely engages in conversations with other
division heads. It’s the last day, and her father’s closing remarks, scheduled
after the breakfast, will mark the end. Despite the beautiful beach setting,
the week has been long and tiring. She arrived in Muscat believing she could
predict her future—well, at least the next month. But now, thanks to her father,
it’s all turned upside down. She faces a monumental decision that will impact
her life, and it’s not something she anticipated when she agreed to move to
Dubai. She begins to bite her thumbnail nervously as Azahr invites their father
to the podium to speak.
The theme of the conference was about divergent economic growth across global economies, which
really meant how to ensure the continued success of Rai Industries. The senior
Rai goes on about this, expertly discussing and even countering some of the
claims made by the economists who spoke during the conference. He does it
admirably, showing how sharp he remains at seventy.

Toward the end of his speech, he takes a turn Vi doesn’t see coming. She had asked him to give
her a week to think over his offer, but clearly his grunt meant a ‘no’, not
‘yes’.
“Now, before I close, I want to thank my son, Azahr, for all his hard work in
coordinating this conference, and also for his years of loyalty to Rai
Industries. I want him to know that his allegiance has brought pride to me and
our family.”
The audience erupts in restrained applause.
Her father holds up his hands to indicate he isn’t finished. “I expect you all have
also had the pleasure of meeting my charming daughter, Violet, this week. It
was important to me that you have a chance to get to know her.”
Suddenly all eyes in the room focus on Vi. She straightens and forces a reserved smile.
This isn’t what she agreed to, but obviously this is her father’s way of saying
there’s only one answer. Why did she ever expect him to actually listen to her?
“Over the next few months, Violet will be transitioning to take over as CEO of Rai
Industries.”
Vi can feel her stomach tense. Her palms begin to sweat, and she quickly looks
over at the Exit sign, gauging how long it will take for her to get out. This
isn’t what she asked for, nor is it what she wanted. No, she wanted a position
in Rai Industries, not any one in particular, just something that would give
her closer access to her brother, to put her suspicions to rest.
Now, the game has changed. Not only will Azahr be out for blood, but her father has
exposed her to the scrutiny of her colleagues and anyone else who may want to
find out more about the mysterious, illegitimate Rai daughter. She mentioned
this to him over lunch when he first proposed this idea. His response echoed
Samir’s. She was ultimately untouchable. Personal judgments be damned. Vi would
be secure. But at what price?
She gulps for air, trying to quell the chaos of emotions that are raging through
her, uncertain of how to proceed. Her mind is in a fog. Her usual philosophy of
following where the universe is pointing her seems to be failing her when it
appears to be her father acting as her master.
Vi squeezes her hands together, digging her nails into her palms to calm herself.
When she hears her name again, she looks over at her father who is motioning
for her to join him. Beside him, Azahr looks like he’s about to have a stroke.
Her father moves the microphone closer to her. To Vi’s surprise, her words come out
more composed and articulate than she would’ve expected.
“Thank you, Father,” she says, nodding toward him. Then looking out onto the faces of
the people who soon will consider her their boss, she says, “Thank you to all
of you. I understand that it may take time to place your trust in me to fill
the rather large shoes of my father.” Vi looks at Samir quickly. “I do not
intend to replace him, because it would be impossible. Rather, I hope to
continue his tireless work and devotion to Rai Industries and see it achieve
his vision of success and growth in the coming years. My father and I have
discussed what that means, and we agree that diversifying Rai’s portfolio as
well as investing in the people of India will be the best course for our
future.” She reaches out and takes her father’s hand. Together, they raise
their hands in a sign of victory, a camera flash momentarily blinding them.
Azahr walks out, wading through the throng of people coming up to congratulate Vi and
her father.
As soon as Samir approaches, she smiles at him and shakes his hand.
“So last night was an interview of sorts,” he says.
She shrugs. “Nothing was certain. I asked for time to decide, but he obviously had
made up his mind.”
“And you? Have you made up your mind?” His tone suggests hope.
Vi cocks her head and smiles. “Perhaps. When I do, you’ll be the first to know.”

About Vivian

Vivian Winslow was born and raised in Southern California.
Before becoming a writer, she made a career out of moving around the world
every couple of years thanks to her husband’s job. She currently lives in New
York City with her husband and two elementary school age children, and is
grateful to finally have a place to call home for more than two years. New York
is the perfect city to indulge her love of shopping, the arts and especially
food. If she’s not at home writing or running around the city with her kids,
you’ll most likely find her indulging in pizza on the Lower East Side or having
a cocktail at her favorite bar in Alphabet City. That said, she’s still a
California girl at heart and would gladly trade in her heels for a pair of
flip-flops to catch a sunset on the beach.

Author Interview: K D Grace

Author Interview with K D Grace

K D1rabSmall~What are you currently working on?

First, can I just say thanks so much for having me over to Weet Weet’s Bookshelf. The interview has been SO much fun! Now to answer the question; I’m currently working on an urban fantasy romance set in Vegas. It’ll be a part of a series.

~Who is your favorite author?

Hands down favorite author has to be Diana Gabaldon. I read her books and loved them years before the Outlander series came to television. Whether it’s world building, research, writing the romantic and the erotic, writing nail-biting action or chilling horror, hers are not only fabulous reads, but I find them often the go-to books for me, as a writer, to see how to do it well. I also love J.R. Ward, Patricia Briggs, Karen Moning, Nora Roberts. Loved Marian Zimmer Bradley’s Mists of Avalon – still one of my favourite novels of all time.

~What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Keep writing! Don’t give up no matter what. Just keep writing. And finish what you start! It doesn’t matter how badly you’ve written it. It’s a draft. It’s something to build on. First drafts are always crap, but until you have a first draft, you’ve got nothing to work with. From that first draft, great stories can be created. AND finally, have fun with it!

~Which of your characters is your Book Boyfriend? Why?

Right now it would have to be Wade Crittenden from Interviewing Wade in the Executive Decisions series. I’ve wanted to write his story for a long time, and when I actually got the chance, he totally blew me away. I never would have imagined the tale he would share with me. I like him because he surprised me and because he’s probably the most messed-up, damaged, yet sexy and witty and surprisingly tender hero I’ve ever written.

~Are you an organized author or scattered?

I don’t know if it’s possible to be both, but I feel that I am. I have a method that I follow, but that method gives me lots of room to be scattered and to be unpredictable. … if that makes any sense.

~Do you plot out your story or write as it goes?

I always begin by writing a short blurb and then a very loose chapter by chapter synopsis. For me, that synopsis is more like a road map that shows me the beginning and the end and major points in the middle, but leaves how I get there open so that I can take all the scenic routes and side trips I need to along the way.

~Do you have any strange writing habits?

I don’t know if this is strange or not, but I ‘walk my stories.’ I find the best way to plot and plan and create is to take a long walk. I’ve often come back from a four-hour walk with huge sections of a novel planned out or whole short stories plotted in my head. I just consider walking part of the writing process.

~Do you have writers block and how do you work around it?

I never have writers block. If anything I have the opposite problem, way more stories I want to write than I actually have time for.

~What is your favorite genre to read?

At the moment probably paranormal romance and urban fantasy. Though I read a bit of everything.

~If you could go back in time what is one thing you would tell your teenage self?

LIGHTEN UP!!!!!

~What are your favorite hobbies?

Long distance walking, veg gardening, reading. Anything that gets me outdoors.

~Do you believe in love at first sight?

I can’t say that I don’t believe in it, but it hasn’t been my experience. My experience was that I fell deeply and passionately in love with my best friend. It was very much a Eureka moment. We’ve been together for 24 years now and he’s still my best friend.

~Name one of your pet peeves?

Too much noise! There’s too much noise in the world. I don’t like it when I can’t hear my thoughts. I don’t like it when I can’t hear the birds sing.

~Favorite drink? Alcoholic or not.

Iced tea! I’ve loved it since I was a little girl. I still love it. Coffee’s a close second though. I consider both essential to my well-being as a writer J

~What is one thing no one knows about you?

I have two little round scars in my cleavage from popcorn. That’s right! I was popping popcorn in a very low-necked tank top and a kernel popped up just as I poured out the finished corn, went down the front of my shirt and nestled right in between the girls making two small blisters leaving two small scars. You see what happens when I try to be sexy? 😉

~Do you have any hidden talents?

I’m good with languages. I speak Croatian – spoke it a whole lot better when I lived there. I find languages fascinating to study, but don’t have much time for it now.

~Most hated chore?

Taking out the trash. Lucky for me, my husband does it.

~Have you ever been in trouble with the police?

I’ve had a couple of speeding tickets. That’s about it.

~If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I’d love to be able to fly!

~If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Taco salad!

~If you had a warning label what would it say?

Warning, Volatile!

~If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be?

On bad days a slug. On good days a cat.

~What was your first job?

Baby sitting.

~Who is one person you would like to meet for coffee?

Diana Gabaldon.

~Are you a Tom boy or a girly girl?

Most definitely a Tom boy. I always angst when I have to dress the part of the romantic girly girl for a reading or a signing.

~What is your favorite/ go to cuss word?

Fuck! Fuck is to cussing what vanilla is to baking. Fuck is the fundamental flavor of cussing.

~Do you have any piercings/tattoos? If so where?

I actually pierced my own ears … three times on each side, back when I was in Uni, but quickly found I couldn’t be arsed to juggle three sets of earrings every day. As for tattoos, I’m too big a coward. Besides, I don’t like things that I can’t change at will if I want to.

~What is one of your phobias?

I can’t sleep in rooms that are totally dark. I have to be able to see and make out the outline of things in the room at least, otherwise I feel like I’m sleeping in a coffin, and I am NOT a vampire.

Interviewing Wade_edited-1

Carla nodded to the chair opposite her and Wade sat down cautiously. She offered a dry smile and spoke around a mouthful of toast. ‘Chair’s not booby-trapped, food’s not poisoned. My security system’s not that good.’

When he made no reply but savoured a forkful of eggs, she joined him in devouring the feast, satisfied that after the first bite, he shovelled it in with as much relish and lack of delicate table manners as she did. With her, eating was always done in a hurry to get on with what was always way more work than she had time for, unless she was settling in for a meal with her father. She suspected he cooked for her especially for that reason. And as she watched Wade stuff half a slice of toast into his mouth in one go, she figured he was probably the same, with no one to make sure he got a good meal from time to time. Though possibly Ellis invited him over occasionally, or maybe Harris Walker and his new wife, Stacie Emerson. Apparently her culinary skills were spoken about in hush tones. Strange, but it felt good to be able to offer something to Wade, even if the idiot did show up at three in the morning

‘Good,’ he said, at last, covering his full mouth with the paper towel she’d given him in lieu of the napkins she didn’t have.

‘Thanks. You think this is good, you should see me make Pop Tarts.

‘I like Pop Tarts,’ he said.

‘The secret is,’ she leaned across the table, ‘you’ve got to get the toaster set just right. And then afterwards,’ he leaned closer with wrapped attention, ‘afterwards I put butter on ‘em and stick ‘em in the microwave until it melts.’

Wade’s eyes were huge and very green in the kitchen lighting. He looked dead serious, as though she had just given him her secret for cold fusion. ‘I never thought about melting the butter on them in the microwave,’ he said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. ‘But I find that I do like mine so that the little pastry edges are just beginning to get almost too brown.’

Christ! Were they actually talking about Pop Tarts? She laughed. ‘I like ‘em almost burnt, but I know that’s a matter of personal taste. My Dad likes his just barely warm.’

He lowered his head and went back to shovelling eggs.

She popped the last of her bacon into her mouth and spoke around it. ‘So tell me, is Fort Flannery as unassailable as my father assured me, or are we in need of an upgrade?’

He drained his glass of orange juice and pushed back from the table. ‘Your father did a good job. I didn’t have to do hardly anything.’

‘He’ll be glad to hear that,’ she said. ‘Sorry you had to waste your valuable time in the wee hours. I know how busy you are.’

‘Yes, well, it was on my mind. If you’ll let me see your Android, I’ll give it a little upgrade too.’

‘Will I be able to watch Russian porn on it?’ she asked.

‘Japanese and Chinese porn as well, if you like.’ There was that quirk of a smile that she really would love to eat right off his face.

‘And I’ll assume you’ve given it a test-drive.’

To her delight, the smile didn’t disappear, even though the blush was hot on those chiselled cheeks. ‘I’m my own best guinea pig.’

‘Wade Crittenden, that borders on too much information, but in the interest of consumer protection and all, I thank you.’ The blush grew, but the smile stayed put as she offered him a salute and went into her bedroom to get the device.

She returned to find that he’d shed his hoodie and was filling the sink with soapy water, his broad back mantling the counter like a giant bird of prey. For a second her stomach bottomed at the sight of Wade Crittenden doing dishes at her sink. She stood, Android crushed to her chest, feeling flushed and slightly off-balance. His t-shirt was a loose fit, misshapen and short in the back from too many washings for something that should have migrated to the rag drawer some time ago, and when he reached across the sink to add still more soap, the shirt rode up to reveal the slim line of his back and the muscles where his hips joined his torso just above the swell of his buttocks. The baggy jeans gave enough of an intimation of that swelling to leave Carla breathless and hot enough to want to throw off her own hoodie and splash herself with the soapy water in which he was nearly elbow-deep.

As though he sensed her watching, he turned, slopped water down the front of his shirt and onto his jeans and uttered a surprised curse.

Without thinking she rushed to his side, dropping the device on the table. ‘You don’t have to do that,’ she managed, in a breathless gasp. ‘Sometimes I go for weeks without ever washing so much as a coffee cup.’ She stretched around him, grabbed for a dish towel and offered it to him instead of patting him dry herself, which was what she really wanted to do.

He reached for the towel, holding her gaze. ‘You cook for me, I do the clean-up for you. Fair’s fair.’ His hand slid into the cloth and around her fingers as he drew it to his chest. His breath caught, his lips parted as though to speak, and God help her, she couldn’t resist, she leaned into him on tippy-toe and planted a kiss firmly on his mouth. She only meant for it to be a friendly peck, a way of saying thanks for checking up on her and for doing the dishes, but his other hand, covered with soapy water, swooped in and grabbed the front of her hoodie reeling her to him. Then he curled his fingers in the tangle of her wild hair and cradled the back of her head, pulling her still further up on her toes. ‘Oh God,’ he whispered, his tongue darting deep, his lips, soft and hard and bruising all at the same time, meeting hers in a clash of wills and a heroic effort to get closer and deeper. ‘Oh God, Carla, why did you do that,’ he gasped against her mouth.

‘Just being friendly,’ she managed, before the tongue sparring got serious. He gave the towel a toss and yanked down the zipper of her hoodie, shoving it off onto the floor, his hands skimming her breasts in his efforts, thumbs lingering to rake her nipples that were already painful in their peaking. His jeans might have been loose, but they were not loose enough to disguise his erection, and he didn’t seem to care. Both hands slid to cup her bottom and he lifted her, settling her onto the kitchen table, pushing her legs apart with his knees and moving in between her thighs as she went to work on his fly.

‘I have lots of friends, ‘ he breathed. ‘None of them do that to me.’

‘How about this,’ she said biting his lower lip and sliding her hand down inside his boxers. ‘Do they do this?’

‘No,’ he returned the nip. ‘Never, none of them.’ For a second he faltered. ‘Carla, I –’

‘Shut up, Wade. I don’t wanna hear it.’ This time she bit his tongue before she took his hand and guided it down into her baggy sweat bottoms and into her own boxers.

Author Interview with Emily Ford

EF1
~What are you currently working on?

I’m finishing up “The Sober Companion,” which is my first paranormal romance/thriller!

~Who is your favorite author?

My sister, Lizzy Ford.

~What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Keep at it! You will improve with practice just like anything else. Don’t be afraid to research things you’re not certain of, such as character arcs or writing structure, to actively improve your writing.

~Which of your characters is your Book Boyfriend? Why?

Probably Michael in “The Black Jester,” because he is sensitive to women and wants to protect them. In the story, he does anything he has to in order to protect Rose, whom he comes to love. And he wreaks serious havoc in protecting her!

~Are you an organized author or scattered?

I’m fairly organized!

~Do you plot out your story or write as it goes?

Most of the time, my stories write themselves but there are times when I need to step back and make sure things are coming together, and if not I’ll make changes or add things in.

~Which one of your characters is your absolute favorite? Why?

I love Johnny Justice (also known as “The Blue Jester”) in my Kings of New Orleans series, because he is such a good guy and wants to do the right thing. He cares about his friends and wants to protect the good people of New Orleans. He’s just an outstanding character!

~Which one is your least favorite? Why?

I love all my main characters, if I didn’t I wouldn’t write them into existence. I do have some criminal scumbags in my Kings of New Orleans series, but don’t worry, I take care of them properly!

~Do you have any strange writing habits?

I can write a novella (35k words) in a week, and during that week I do nothing but write, eat, sleep, write, eat, sleep! It’s a really concentrated block of time but it seems to be conducive to my ability to be creative.

~Do you work on 1 story at a time or multiples?

I like to work on one story at a time.

~What is your favorite genre to read?

Actually I read a lot of non-fiction!

~What are your favorite hobbies?

Author Interview with Elizabeth Sharp

noborderlogo

~What are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on a dystopian called Decayed Horizons that I hope to have out by June.

~Who is your favorite author?

There are way too many to pick one. Reading the question four separate ones sprang to mind.

~What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Find your tribe, the people who support you. You don’t have to be in competition with each other.

~Which of your characters is your Book Boyfriend? Why?

Xander Hoffman, from the Forces of Nature… His sense of humor, his devil-may-care attitude and fierce protectiveness just make him irrisistable.

~Are you an organized author or scattered?

I’m pretty scattered, though I’m trying to get more organized.

~Do you plot out your story or write as it goes?

I’m learning to plot. I used to just write, but with a toddler and a busy life I need help staying on target.

~Which one of your characters is your absolute favorite? Why?

That’s like asking a mother to pick a favorite child… But if I had to pick I’d have to say Bethany from Dark Reflections. I related to her more than any other character I’ve ever written.

~Which one is your least favorite? Why?

I like all my characters for one reason or another, but the hardest one to learn to love had to be Chelsea from Dark Reflections.

~Do you have any strange writing habits?

I have to write in format. My WIP is in the proper styles, with the headers and breaks in place. Like the actual images most authors wait for the final draft to add.

~Do you have writers block and how do you work around it?

Of course, everyone does

~Do you work on 1 story at a time or multiples?

Usually I work on one at a time. Currently I’m working on five…

~What is your favorite genre to read?

I like contemporary and thrillers, but my first love will always be paranormal. Howver I can’t read it while writing, since that’s my usual genre and I don’t want to be influenced by anyone too similar to my own work.

~What is the most wacky/crazy weird thing you received from a fan?

Really, just having fans seems weird to me, still.

~If you could go back in time what is one thing you would tell your teenage self?

It really does get better. Hang in there. You aren’t broken beyond repair.

~What are your favorite hobbies?

Aside from reading and writing, I design covers, make jewelry and am a generally crafty person.

~Do you believe in love at first sight?

Yes. Whole heartedly.

~Name one of your pet peeves?

The sound of metal scarping on metal.

~If you were a genie, what wish would you absolutely not grant?

Anything involving free will, because no one should have theirs taken away.

~Favorite drink? Alcoholic or not.

Currently I’m obssessed with Bai, an antioxident juice based drink. I’m also a recovering Dr. Pepper addict.

~What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

My cell phone.

~If you could date a celebrity who would it be and why?

Well, it’s kinda cougarish, but Avan Jogia since he’s the inspiration for Anderson from Dark Reflections. I love that he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

~What is one thing no one knows about you?

I chose the pen name Sharp because my actual name was Dull and I didn’t think I could sell a book that said Dull on the cover.

~Favorite sport/sports team?

Football/Packers

~Do you have any hidden talents?

The ability to hurt myself in the most unbelievable ways.

~Most hated chore?

Laundry

~Pick two celebrities to be your parents.

I thought long and hard about htis, and the pairing would definitely be an odd couple, but I chose Steve Martin and Mayim Balik (Amy Fariah Fowler on Big Bang Theory) because they’re both incredibly smart and funny. Not to mention good looking. I’d definitely be ok with those genes.

~Have you ever been in trouble with the police?

Only for speeding

~If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I want to be able to teleport around the world. Would make all the traveling I want to do so much easier.

~If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli.

~Do you have any nicknames?

A ton: Deej, Dee, Double D (my real name, nothing to do with size), E, Sharpie, Lizzie, Dingbat, Slick… I could go on…

~Do you like or dislike surprises? Why or why not?

I like them, as long as they’re good surprises.

~What’s your favorite fast food chain?

Probably Chik-fil-A

~If you had a warning label what would it say?

Contains no volume control

~If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be?

Probably a raccoon

~What is one thing you will never do again?

Stabbing myself in the wrist with an African porcupine quill definitely tops that list

~What was your first job?

Special events security in San Diego. I worked things like Charger football games, NCAA basketball finals, the Superbowl, World Cup Soccor, Rolling Stones Concert… And yes, I have met some celebrities.

~Who is one person you would like to meet for coffee?

Rachel Vincent. Her books inspired me to take my writing seriously and led to me finally getting published.

~What is the best joke you’ve ever played on someone or had played on you?

In high shcool I was part of a group that took the principal’s car about and reassembled it on the roof.

~What is your favorite TV show?

Grimm or Forever. Hard to pick one over the other.

~Do you like to go out or stay home?

Stay home. Especielly in the winter it’s hard to get me out of the house.

~What is your favorite movie?

While You Were Sleeping

~What is your preferred method to violently kill someone (in your book, of course)?

I don’t know that I have a orefered method. I think i’ve used just about everything at some point. I do like to do it suddenly and unexpected, though….

~Are you a Tom boy or a girly girl?

A weird mix of both

~Do you take the “personality” quizzes, like on Buzzfeed/Facebook?

Totally addicted to them and most my friends are enablers that keep telling me about them

~What is your favorite holiday?

Halloween because it’s the one day a year I can be anything I want.

~What is your favorite/ go to cuss word?

Now that I have a toddler, I’m trying not to, but bitch is still my fave….

~Do you have any piercings/tattoos? If so where?

Two piercings in each ear, cartilage of the left ear, and four tattoos–One on the back of each shoulder, one on the back of my neck and one on the inside of my left wrist.

~Do you like tattooed bad boys or sweet good guys?

Yes. I’m sorry, you want me to pick? I refuse.

~Favorite quote?

“Invention is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”

-Thomas Edison

“My mother always said beauty is a choice, not a gift.”

-Elizabeth Sharp (Hidden Depths, Dark Reflections Book Two)

~What is one of your phobias?

I am horrible with heights. Even climbing up to stand on a chair freaks me out.

Excerpt from Decayed Horizon — Coming in May

**This is unedited.**

I wasn’t sure where I was, or how I had gotten here, but one thing was certain—all was not well in New York City. I wasn’t sure where the other people had gone, or why there weren’t rescue crews everywhere. Picking myself up off the floor, I began to make my way carefully along what I was coming to fear were the remains of the Penn Station platform, hoping enough of the stairs remained for me to get back to the surface. Had there been another terrorist attack?

The darkness wasn’t absolute, and I found as I traced the path I’d taken into the tunnel that it lessened, but my heart dropped when I realized it was because a large section of the ceiling had caved in, exposing me to the afternoon light. I probably would have been stuck there until I starved to death if not for the vines growing among the crumbled concrete. My slouchy leather boots had super grippy soles, and while I had no real meat on my bones I was stronger than I looked. After fifteen minutes struggling over broken concrete, pulling myself up along a strange vine I’d never seen before, I collapsed into the empty street panting. I wasn’t worried about cars because I was certain the police would have cordoned off the area. So I laid there with my eyes screwed shut waiting for the oxygen my body so desperately yearned for.

Author Interview: A.C. Warneke

Author Interview with A.C. Warneke

ACW6

**Before I get started, I want to thank you for inviting me to participate and for the entertaining questions! Thank you!!!

~What are you currently working on?

My current project is the contemporary romance A MILLION KISSES OR MORE. I am also working on STONE SEDUCTION, the second book in the Stone Passions Twins duet (the first book being STONE SOLITUDE).

~Who is your favorite author?

This is a hard one because there are so many authors that I love. The one author that I still buy without reading the blurb is Julia Quinn.

~What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Write. Write. Write. And don’t be afraid of the delete button (or, if you’re like me, copy and paste the cut words to another document. There might be some pieces of gold that will work for another story.)

~Which of your characters is your Book Boyfriend? Why?

This is a really tough question but I think I’m going to have to go with Harrison, the hero of my WIP. As much as I love my other men, Harrison is on my mind twenty-four/seven and will be until I hit the publish button. My top three are Winter (Winter’s Heart) Duncan (Siren Song) and Roman (Stone Solitude)

~Are you an organized author or scattered?

I am organized in my own crazy-messy way (which is to say, I’m scattered.)

~Do you plot out your story or write as it goes?

I usually write as it goes and sometimes my brain will work out the details in advance and sometimes it doesn’t. Winter’s Heart was unique in that it was just there, complete in its entirety and all I had to do was write it down.

~Which one of your characters is your absolute favorite? Why?

My favorite is Lexi Darling from Siren Song. She’s intelligent and creative and a little insecure but she doesn’t let it show and she’s not afraid of going after what she wants.

~Which one is your least favorite? Why?

This is another tough question because I love all of my characters, even the “villains.” Okay, there is one character that is just awful – Matthew Swan from Blight/After Blight. He was a minor character but he was responsible for a lot of death.

~Do you have any strange writing habits?

I play a LOT of minesweeper and solitaire when I’m writing, an obscene amount. I keep a notebook next to my bed for when an idea pops into my head in the middle of the night and I HAVE to write it down or I won’t be able to go back to sleep. The interesting part comes in the morning when I try to interpret what I have written. Occasionally, I can make out a letter but it’s usually enough to determine what was written.

~Do you have writers block and how do you work around it?

When I suffer from writer’s block, I try to give my brain a break and do something else entirely and HOPE that the words will return. Or if I’m in the middle of a story and everything has stopped, it’s usually because I went in the wrong direction somewhere along the way. This sucks because it means I have to go back and change something and I always procrastinate for as long as possible, no matter if it is a major sticking point (which is extremely painful) or a minor sticking point (less painful but no less worthy of procrastinating.)

~Do you work on 1 story at a time or multiples?

Generally, I work on one at a time because I immerse myself into the world I’m writing about. However, I currently have two WIP’s: Stone Seduction which stalled out around 45,000 words and A Million Kisses, which snuck up and demanded to be written during Stone Seduction. Winter’s Heart is another one that swooped in and demanded attention. I had sent Darkness Falls off to the printer to get a proof so I could edit it and while waiting for it to be sent to me, Winter whispered in my ear and possessed me for two weeks. It was insane. Needless to say, Winter was released before Darkness Falls.

~What is your favorite genre to read?

Historical romance. J

~What is the most wacky/crazy weird thing you received from a fan?

My cat once gave me a toy mouse. Does that count?

~What are your favorite hobbies?

Crocheting, quilting, making fairy wings, costuming,

~Do you believe in love at first sight?

Some days, yes.

~Name one of your pet peeves?

Someone talking to me in the morning before I’ve fully come awake. Give me a good thirty, forty minutes before diving into a deep discussion, like “How’s the weather?”

~If you could date a celebrity who would it be and why?

I don’t think I’d like to date a celebrity, especially since it’s usually the character I fall in love with. It would probably be disappointing and overwhelming and confusing all at the same time.

~Favorite sport/sports team?

Dance/ my daughter’s dance team.

~Most hated chore?

All of them.

~Have you ever been in trouble with the police?

Once, after dropping my sister off at school, I was pulled over but it was just my dad. He wanted to say good morning. Still didn’t stop my heart from pounding when I saw those flashing lights making me wonder what the hell I did wrong.

~If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I’d be the sidekick making the superhero look even more awesome. That or flying.

~If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza because you can put anything on pizza (yeah, my answer is cheating).

~Do you like or dislike surprises? Why or why not?

No, not even a little bit. I don’t like not knowing and surprises are all about not knowing.

~What’s your favorite fast food chain?

Subway or Wendy’s because I really like Frosties.

~If you had a warning label what would it say?

Approach slowly and with caution, awkward in a crowd.

~If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be?

A cat: watchful, solitary, loving to her people, protective, with claws

~What was your first job?

Working at a video rental store.

~Who is one person you would like to meet for coffee?

The Doctor

~What is your favorite TV show?

Doctor Who (the reboot. Love the Eleventh Doctor) and Supernatural

~Do you like to go out or stay home?

Stay at home.

~What is your favorite movie?

It’s really hard to choose only one but I think I’ll go with The Princess Bride. Awesome movie.

~What is your preferred method to violently kill someone (in your book, of course)?

Decapitation (but only the Blight), getting ripped apart or stung by a thousand wasps. There are no bad methods.

~Do you take the “personality” quizzes, like on Buzzfeed/Facebook?

On occasion.

~What is your favorite holiday?

Probably Halloween because I love making costumes for my daughter. Of course, she no longer limits her dress up days to Halloween….

~What is your favorite/ go to cuss word?

Fuck. It is such a versatile word and sometimes the only word that works.

~Do you have any piercings/tattoos? If so where?

Pierced earlobes, pierced cartilage (left ear) and a gargoyle tattoo on my right thigh (done by my talented daughter-in-law)

~Do you like tattooed bad boys or sweet good guys?

Yes, yes I do.

~Favorite quote?

I have two quotes next to my computer, one my kids made me out of Perler beads: “You should be writing.”
The second one is written on a little post it note: “Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil.” – Thomas Mann

~What is one of your phobias?

Flying – but it isn’t so much the fear of flying (because I dream I can fly and it’s wonderful) it’s the fear of falling.
From the new, contemporary romance A MILLION KISSES OR MORE:
(The scene where Ana and Harrison first meet)
Stomping across the street, he called out, “What seems to be the problem here?”
Her head shot up and she looked at him with wide, forest green eyes and he swore he felt the planet shift beneath him. As she stood up, he realized she wasn’t wearing anything remotely appropriate for the weather, at least not the weather in northern Minnesota. The vibrant yellow material was silky and sexy but it was what she had on underneath that nearly unmanned him. The short, silky boy shorts showcased her long, long legs and the cropped camisole played peak-a-book with her belly button, which was adorned by a small jewel. His cock sat up and took notice, despite the freezing temperature.
“Thank God you’re home,” she breathed, her words coming out staggered as her teeth clicked together. Glancing down, he saw a pair of bright blue rubber boots on her feet and a smile almost curved his lips. If she wasn’t freezing, he would have asked her what the hell she was thinking going outside in little more than her underwear. Almost as if he asked the question out loud, she answered, “I came outside to get the mail and I locked myself out of the house.”
“It’s Sunday,” he murmured, holding a hand out and catching his breath when she slid her nearly frozen palm into his. “There’s no mail today.”
She looked up at him with those green eyes of her and frowned, even as he pulled her to her feet. While she had legs that went on forever, the top of her head only reached his chin. The leg thing must have been an illusion brought on by the cold and the skimpy clothes she was wearing. He had to concentrate on her words when his mind was wondering about those legs. When he let her go, she wobbled so he quickly put an arm around her waist to hold her steady, appreciating the slender curves. Except she was shaking like a leaf and he had no idea what he was going to do with her. “I could have sworn it was Saturday, otherwise why would I have gone outside to get the mail?”
“Because you’re clearly insane,” he muttered, his eyes widening in his head as he realized he had said that out loud. Instead of being offended, she laughed, a rich, almost husky sound that made his cock twitch.
“Probably,” she agreed, following him when he started across the street to return home. The foolish girl was probably too cold to care about stranger danger.
(The rest is a sweet and steamy story of two people falling in love. I hope to release it late spring/ early summer)

~ TEASERS ~

~ EXCERPT ~
He
pulled my underwear aside and slowly wiggled it into the hard nubbin of my
clit.  Internally I laughed at the idea
of a small piece of rubbery plastic getting me off.  I shouldn’t have laughed, because the next
thing I felt was an intense sensation buzzing against my hard nubbin and
feeling the onset of a climax beginning to escalate to magnificent
proportions.  I started to squirm and
moan all over the place, as he pressed one finger just inside my center and
curled it toward my g-spot, placing just enough pressure to set me off like a
firework ready to explode.  I couldn’t
help but scream out, “Oh, Sir.  Oh,
Dane!”
He
stopped the vibrator and asked if I’d like him to bring it home with us, since
opening it made him purchase it.  “Well,
you bought it; you might as well use it.”
I
know my reply was smug, but the look of desire that spread across his face was
overwhelming.  He was definitely the
predator and I was the prey, ready to learn.
Sir, please lead the way!

~ ABOUT THE AUTHOR ~
Cynthia P. O’Neill
I grew up in a small town in South Florida called Clewiston and moved to Central Florida to attend college. I married my friend, love, and soul mate and still reside in the area with our amazing son, and a feisty, four-legged little doggie boy.
In my books, I draw on my background in healthcare, business, and science, along with my husband’s engineering and wireless technology knowledge.
I currently write on all levels of Romance. The Learning Series is for those who like a little more steam with their books, falling into the categories of Contemporary and verging on Erotica, with a hint of Suspense. The Remembrance Series encompasses Young Adult, with a touch of Paranormal activity and a hint of Historical romance. A new contemporary romance series is underway, called Need. It will be different than the others, because each book will focus on a new couple, while all of the characters will still have a large presence throughout the series.
I try to make my writing very personal and close to her heart. Regular life is the inspiration for my books, but I’m only limited by imagination taking ideas to new heights, opening up possibilities that would normally not exist.
On a more personal note…I love to cook and create in the kitchen and on the bbq grill. I sometimes lose myself in a song at the piano. I often sing with my son while we are driving or making dinner together. I enjoy crafts (flower arranging, making wreaths, painting pottery, needle point and drawing in pencil and charcoals). My music tastes are eclectic at best, ranging from classical piano to hard rock/heavy metal. It all depends on the song, group, and if it has a good beat or is a soulful ballad.
