Review: Deacon (Starkis Family Book 1) by Cheryl Douglas

When Deacon Starkis sets his sights on the gorgeous young model gracing the pages of his glossy catalogue, he knows he has to have her. One problem. She’s not available. But that won’t stop Deacon. He’s a man used to getting what he wants and he wants Mia.

Mia is stunned when she receives an email from the elusive billionaire who owns the lingerie company she models for. He tells her he’s intrigued. He’s not the only one. But she knows she’d be a fool to throw away an eight year relationship for a brief affair with the head honcho. He doesn’t do relationships and she doesn’t do casual sex. It seems they’re at an impasse.

Who will come out on top in this battle of wills? The dominant one or the woman intent on teaching him the meaning of submission?

Note to readers: No cliff-hangers! Mature content, 18+

Jessica’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

When I read the blurb, I was intrigued. Deacon falls in “love” with a model in one of his magazines. Mia has never met Deacon, yet quickly gets over the surprise of his emails. Too bad Mia is in an 8 year reltaionship with Drew. Eleni is Mia’s best friend & models for the same company. Eleni is the voice of reason as often as she plays Devil’s Advocate. I’d love to see her get a book. Every woman needs a girlfriend like Eleni. She’s supporting you, loving you, calling you on your BS. But I digress.

Deacon is everything you’d expect from a billionaire. He goes after what he wants, doesn’t take rejection well, Yet he shows a remarkable patience for Mia, playing a long term game. He’s convinced Mia is The One. There’s a few hurdles in his way, besides Drew. Mia is sweet, innocent in a way that is jsut part of who she is. She works her butt off while Drew goes back to school and is a lazy slob. Drew has few redeeming quailities, but he’s safe. He’s all Mia has ever known. It’s hard to step out, break away from the comfort zone.

Cheryl Douglas does great job of breathing life into her characters! She doesn’t take the easy path, make her characters do what’s expected. The road to true love is never smooth or easy. The heartache and anguish is as believable as the laughter and sexy kisses. Being an adult is full of twists, turns and stumbles. It’s how you pick up the cracked peices that make you into who you want to be.
I look forward to reading more from Cheryl Douglas and the Starkis Family!!

Review: Finding Reese (Searching for Love, Book 2) by Noelle Stevens

This is Book 2 of the Searching for Love romance serial.

Reese is scared she might be falling for Brody, the man she met in Malibu. Fleeing to Yellowstone National Park seems like a good idea—it’s a place she’s always wanted to visit, and it’s far away from Brody.

Unaware of her reasons for leaving, Brody knows he’s fallen for her, and when she runs away without so much as a good-bye, he decides to find her and convince her to give him a chance.

Will his love be enough to help her overcome her self-doubts?

Amy’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

I have been a Noelle Stevens fan from her first book and she has yet to disappoint me. I couldn’t wait for Finding Reese to be released so that I could find out what happened next and now I’m trying to be patient for book three. I am hooked on these books and stop everything to read them.

Reese and Brody are so stinking cute together. I love that Brody (rich and sexy) did what he needed to do to find her. To get to her to show her how he felt and tell her too. The fact that Reese (struggling sweetie) has her internal struggles holds her back from a lot. She thinks her past will mess up her future. Poor girl. She’s had it a little rough. I want so bad for this to be a HEA that it’s ridiculous. These two are meant for each other. I really hope it works out. And I really hope that Brody is right and his family will love Reese regardless of her past and family issues.

Warning – 18+ Contains elements of BDSM, hot sex and even hotter Doms!

Jessica’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

His Angel is the second in Samantha Cole’s Trident series, but it’s just as good as Leather & Lace.

His Angel is Ian’s story, his path to Angie. Ian is one of the “Sexy Six Pack”, a group of retired Seals and joint owner of Trident Security. While helping one of the guys move, Ian notices the neighbor Angie. After a quick talk with Angie’s best friend, Ian gets the excuse he needs to spend more time watching her. WHen Angie is stood up by a blind date, she takes a chance and accepts Ian’s offer for dinner. Sparks fly and passions ignite. Soemtimes a fire burns so brightly that it damages everything in it’s path though.

Samantha Cole manages to create a story that completely draws you in. By the middle of the book, I wanted to know more about everyone else, not just the main characters. Mysterious Athos. Soothing Marchos. Tender Jake. Sassy Shelby. The list goes on. Each side character brings a unique viewpoint, making you realize what a well rounded book His Angel is. There are plenty of HOT steamy scenes, sweet tender loving moments, drama and oh my goodness the tears and anger! I may have wanted to throw my kindle at a certian part. I can’t wait to see what happens next with the gentlemen of Trident Security.

It’s the last thing I remembered.

I was afraid.

Afraid to fight, afraid to run… afraid to breathe.

Then, everything had gone dark. As if life was finally hearing my pleas, my cries to end the torment. To end the fear.

But even in the dark, I still felt it.

I always felt it.

My life had been a ricochet of one event leading to the next. Bouncing back and forth from good to bad. Happiness to despair. Hope to fear.

My name is Arianna West. I’m stronger now. Steady. Alive.

I can find a way to survive on my own. I can see what is coming for me. I can channel my fear into strength.

Except… I didn’t see Jack.

And Jack changed everything.

For readers 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual content.

Ricochet Teaser 4

I laughed. A laugh so deep that the muscles in my abdomen flexed. How long had it been since I had felt that? Too long. I hadn’t really laughed in a long time and something so simple had brought it out of me.

Jack had brought it out of me.

“God, I missed that laugh,” Jack whispered.

I went silent, so suddenly that my breath couldn’t keep up and it came rushing out with the emotion that had been built up inside of me.

Tears immediately sprang to my eyes and the heaviness in my chest was back.

My life had changed so much. Everything had changed.

“Ari, please don’t cry.”

He had turned his body towards me and was holding my face in his hands. The tears running down my cheeks didn’t make it far. He wiped each one away.

He saw the moment my control slipped and I just couldn’t seem to stop the tears. That’s when he pulled me into his arms. Arms that had always made everything better. Strong fingers combed through my hair, down my temple, across my jaw, then retraced their way back up and into my hair once more. He was giving me whatever comfort he could while I sobbed on his chest.

I should have been embarrassed about the quick change in my mood. I should have felt ridiculous. Childish. With Jack, though, I never had to worry about being anyone but myself no matter who I was now.

“So much is gone,” I said in a broken and weak voice. “So much is missing from me.”

“No, Ari. You’re still in there, babe, just a little harder to reach.”

I shook my head. In denial? I wasn’t sure. He was only half right.

“I’ve bent too far for too long. I’m broken,” I whispered. So much regret came pouring out of me and I couldn’t control it.

I had been slowly breaking for three years and my determination to move on was waning much faster than I could ever keep up with.

Jack buried his fingers in my hair and I felt the press of his lips on the top of my head. When he spoke, the tone of his voice sounded defeated. Resigned. “The world breaks everyone, and afterward, many are strong at the broken places.”

I sniffed as the rumble in his chest vibrated against my cheek. His shirt was wet from my tears and I knew I looked like a mess, but I looked up at him anyway.

“What is that from?” I asked.

“What? You don’t think I could come up with something so profound by myself?” he teased.

“I know damn well you could, Jack.”

He looked at me for a moment, his eyes searching mine and his fingers sweeping a lock of hair back behind my ear. If I didn’t know any better, I would think he was reading my mind, seeing all my secrets, all my broken places. “It’s Ernest Hemingway. He said that.”

“Do you believe it?”

“I do. So much so that I tattooed it on my shoulder the first chance I got,” he mumbled with a short chuckle.

I glanced down at his shoulder. It was too dark to see much of anything, but the moonlight streaming in the window showed enough when he lifted his shirt sleeve. The words were there, permanently inked into his skin just above a complex shape that I couldn’t quite make out.

5 STARS!!!!!

It’s so hard to explain how I felt about this book. It was amazing but it’s more than that. I don’t have words to describe it. I was engrossed in this book from the very first word. It sucked me in and kept me reading for hours. Life stopped for me but came to life for Arianna and Jack. My heart hurt for half the book and exploded with hope and love for the other half. Arianna’s story is so tragic. It’s a situation that is really hard to write about but Jessica Wilde did an amazing job to bring forth the emotions of a person in that situation. Arianna is amazingly strong. She set forth to restart her life even after her ex found her again. She wasn’t going to let anyone stop her from starting over. I loved Jack from the first moment he entered the book. Sweet, caring, lovable, and HOT!…. It was great to see him there taking care of Arianna, never giving up with the hope that one day she would come around. I love to see big macho men showing a sweeter and softer side. It makes me love them even more.

Jack and Arianna are a perfect love story. A love from long ago showing up in your life years later. There to help you with the hard parts of life and showing you how much you are truly loved. Giving you the strength to try again and to move on. This is seriously a must read book.

About The Author

I live in Morgan Utah with my husband, daughter, and dog, Kolo. I write as often as my active daughter will let me and my husband has the patience of a saint. I find inspiration from dreams, people I meet, and life experiences. When I write, I usually end up drinking one too many cans of Peace Tea, eating three too many Fruit by the Foot fruit snacks, and accidently kicking my pup and best buddy, Kolo, too many times since he loves to sleep under my desk at my feet.
I started writing as a teen, but my fear of the unknown won out every time and I threw everything out. After becoming a mother and deciding to stay at home to raise my beautiful little girl, I tried again when I couldn’t stop thinking of ideas. I loved every minute, every hour of sleep lost, and every character that came to life in my mind.
It’s strange, but my favorite moments are when I have writer’s block because I can turn to my husband and find inspiration through him by just doing what we do best together. Talking, laughing, and just being in love. He doesn’t like to read, but he never stops encouraging me to keep going.
Writing has become an important part of my life and every book has a special place in my heart.

Review: Ever After (Stranded Trilogy, Book 3) by Noelle Stevens

This is the third book in the Stranded series. This book description contains spoilers for the previous books.

After a romantic weekend at Drake’s cabin, Ashley and Drake have moved their relationship to the next level. But when they arrive back in Reno and real life sets in, unforeseen challenges strain their fragile relationship.

Will these challenges strengthen their love, or tear them apart for good?

Amy’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

I had the pleasure to be a beta reader for this amazing book. I fell in love with Ashley and Drake from book 1. They are truly a great couple and watching them grow in each book has been entertaining and heart breaking at times. Drake never being in a committed relationship is unsure how to do things. When temptation comes into play in the form of his newly hired assistant Drake has to work hard at keeping himself in check. Ashley on the other hand has to learn to trust the man she loves. A man who is use to sleeping with whomever and whenever he pleases. This proves to be hard for her. My heart broke during a part in this book. A part where I thought it was going to be it for them. But then Noelle came up with a fun and entertaining way for them to find each other again. The ending made me say “aww” and I can only hope that this will change from a trilogy to a series because I need more of the couple I fell in love with.

Review: On Solid Ground by Melissa Collins

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00037]

When Jacob “Dax” Daxton returns home from war, he has to fight a new battle – the one to find his place in the world. The man who normally has a clear path to victory surrounded by brothers in combat is suddenly lost and alone. After meeting Beckett Ridge, a bearded tattoo artist, Dax’s journey begins winding down an unexpected path.

Still reeling from events that shook his foundation, Beck has never been part of anything meaningful. Now faced with responsibilities foreign and daunting, Dax’s broken spirit mends Beck in ways he never even knew he was destroyed.

As both struggle to find balance, they are healed by the comfort they find in one other. On the other side of chaos, they hope to find themselves On Solid Ground.

Amy’s Review:

WOW! I don’t even know how to put into the words the emotions I felt while reading On Solid Ground. I mean…. I just don’t have words to convey how I felt. The painful pasts that both Dax and Beck went through tore my heart apart. Then the love I felt being shared between the two was too sweet. Just to have my heart ripped open yet again. It seemed like these poor boys went through one thing after another. Every time they thought there would be a break and things would look up something else happened. I couldn’t put this book down.

This book touches base on a few different things that are difficult in life and even more difficult to write about. I get a little weird when book touch on some subjects because If not written well it can really ruin a book no matter how good it started but I should have know there were no worries with Melissa Collins.

Dax and Beck are to amazing men. Amazing in their own ways and for different reasons but amazing non the less. Though both had different pasts it didn’t stop them from coming together. These two make the perfect couple. The last M/M book I read was by Melissa Collins and I will say that I can’t say this book topped it but it came very close. I loved these two men from the start. Violet was an added extra bonus that made me smile with every scene she was in. The things that poor girl witnessed. My heart broke for her. I couldn’t imagine. But thankfully Dax and Beck were there to help her through it.

This book is a very emotional read. I teared up several times and even had some tears slip out. I couldn’t help it. I was consumed from page one and didn’t want it to end when it did. If you like M/M books then this is definitely one for you.

Amy’s Review:

5 Stars!!!!!

I loved Lexi in The Master of Whitehall. She was a strong character in that book that made a lasting impact on me. I was happy to see that the second book was about her and her struggles. In the last book we find that she is dying from cancer with only a few weeks to live and Katelyn offers her the ‘Gift’ so she can continue to live. Thankfully Lexi accepts because if she didn’t I think I would’ve been seriously upset. Through Lexi’s Legacy you learn more about her story after she received the ‘Gift’. At first I was happy for her not only because she got to continue to live but also because she met Mikey. I really liked him until he really made me mad when Lexi confessed to him and he took it completely the wrong way. My heart broke. But I was glad she had Katelyn and everyone at Master of Whitehall. They are truly like a family that can count on each other at anytime.

Review: The Master of Whitehall by Rick H. Veal

After the brutal murder of her parents, Katelyn Corbin, a thoroughly modern twenty-one year old college senior, faces the prospect of restarting her life. After arriving in Charleston, Katelyn meets James Dubois and soon falls madly in love with him. He is a handsome young widower and wealthy patron of her school with an old world aristocratic bearing. She is deeply intrigued by this mysterious man who lives alone in the beautifully restored colonial plantation of Whitehall Manor.
But James is not the man she thinks he is. Dark secrets begin to come to the surface. Katelyn soon begins to develop a series of unsettling questions about her new love. She begins searching her own soul for answers, forcing her to question whether or not to continue their relationship.
Katelyn confronts James with her questions and His confirmation validates her fears that he is indeed the man she fears him to be. His revelations shock her, forcing her to acknowledge things about herself and her world that she never thought possible. She discovers that old folklore and fairy-tales are real in a world where vampires live and love side by side with humans.
Katelyn realizes she must make a choice. Does she continue her relationship with James, becoming a vampire herself and living with him forever, or does she walk away, remain human and live without him … is she really strong enough to make either choice?
The Epic Saga of The Master of Whitehall is a timeless love story set in historic Charleston, South Carolina.

Amy’s Review:

5 Stars!!!!!

I have to admit when I started this book I didn’t even know it was a paranormal book. I just liked the covers and always wanted to read the famous Master of Whitehall book. After I started and realized it was about vampires I got extremely excited. I love vampires. My favorite paranormal character. The only way to make this book better is to throw in the romance and the extremely hot sex scenes and you got a HIT!
This story is about Katelyn and James. Katelyn who I loved from the beginning went through a very tough and horrible tragedy. Something that could ruin anyone’s life. But even through it all and though it was hard she remained a strong willed and smart girl. I love how strong her character is and how she really thought through everything and made intelligent decisions. I absolutely adored James. I loved him for the start. Not only was he hot but well mannered and considerate. He was there to help Katelyn through a lot before he offered to extend the ‘Gift’ to her. I love these two together. They are so cute and just mesh perfectly. This book was outstanding and I loved every minute of it.

He begins to grow and mature with his new found family. He finds happiness and his life changes with the discovery of a teacher, a lover, and ultimately an eternal mate in this story of a boy that was lost and found again.

Dale’s Descent is set in historic Charleston, South Carolina with some portions taking place in New York City.

Amy’s Review:

5 Stars!!!!!

Dale, Dale, Dale.. This poor boy. I was heartbroken when I read about him in The Master of Whitehall. He has easily become one of my favorite characters. Being changed against his will at 16 and kidnapped before being left alone to roam around lost and confused. The things that man had him doing. Sleeping in graves… really? I love Dale to pieces and loved reading his story. I was drawn in from the beginning eager to learn about the lost boy who finds his way. He is so mature regardless of his age because of the experiences he went through. I loved that Charlotte Ann took him under her wing but not only as his teacher but lover too. Dale deserves the HEA. There is so much emotion and love. A book I couldn’t put down.
