Who says a wild heart can’t be tamed?

For years, I lived for the job and let it control me. Violence was all I knew. I protected, killed, and served. My name is Blake Evans, one of the best undercover cops in the country. I thought I was about to live a quiet life on my ranch in Wyoming until an old friend showed up and changed everything. He brought me her, Hadley Rivers, country music sensation and the one woman I couldn’t have. I didn’t want her but she had me completely roped in.

My job is to protect her, to keep her away from some psycho who wants her for himself. However, there’s more to her story than I was led to believe. I promised to keep her safe and I won’t back down . . . even if I have to die trying. I can’t let him have her.

Spotlight and Interview: Jake (The Baxters Book 4) by L. Ann Marie

Jake’s been working with the Baxters since they were on SEAL Team 10. That’s more than ten years. He’s watched their kids grow up and his other team members and coworkers getting married.

He wants all of that too. He’s sick of picking up random women and one-night stands. He wants a family and he wants it yesterday.

*Content Warning: includes graphic language and sex. Intended for mature audiences 18+

I never seduced a man, but I’ve read enough romance novels to know how to do it and I’m going to try. I know he wants me, Mitch says I need to let him know I’m ready. That’s the plan. Before the party he’ll know that I’m ready and we can go to the party relaxed. I’ve had enough sleepless nights. I don’t really know how to take care of myself so I can get through a night. How do you ask a question like that? I even tried to Google it. I’m not waiting anymore. I want relief like the books I read say it can be. Mitch handed me a book, but it’s about men, it doesn’t tell me a damn thing about me. I read the whole thing twice, but I don’t have any experience to apply it to.

The floor shakes and I know he’s on his bike and he’s home. I’m nervous and excited all at the same time. I meet him at the door and he kisses me like I’m leaving on a trip. I love it. When he stands we’re breathing heavy and smiling at each other. I pull him to the couch where I have our drinks ready, but he says he needs to have a clear head for a meeting later.

Damn! ‘The party is off?’ He pulls me to his lap and tells me no, but he needs to talk to some people there. That doesn’t sound so bad. I feel like I’m on a roller coaster with my emotions spiking and falling. I smile at him and go for broke. ‘I planned on seducing you before the party but find that all my plans are jumbled in my head.’

He looks serious. ‘I have no problem waiting until you are sure.’

‘I’m sure. I’m not willing to try satisfying myself another damn night. I don’t know how to get to where I can sleep.’

He holds my hands and lifts my chin so I look at him. ‘We can get you satisfied so you sleep for the night.’ He’s smiling.

Dammit! I pull my hands away and move onto the couch. ‘How do I get you to make love to me?’ I sign mad. He laughs, making me pissed.

He turns my face to him again. ‘Just ask.’ He lifts me up and carries me to my bedroom so fast now I’m nervous and excited again. When he puts me down he stands back and signs. ‘If you get scared or it doesn’t feel right you have to tell me. You need a way to let me know if I’m not looking at you or your hands can’t tell me.’ He’s watching me, but I didn’t think this through. I shrug and put my hands up because I have no idea. ‘You’ll want to tell me no, and then yes, you’ll feel things you’ve never experienced and want things you can’t express. You trust me enough for this, but I need to know when something doesn’t work.’

I nod and think. ‘Pinch?’

He laughs. ‘That will work, depending on whether you’re a hellcat or not.’ I don’t know what to say to that, so I just look at him. He bends and kisses me again. Everything leaves me until I feel his hands moving to my shorts. I match his movements and unzip his pants. I feel his vibration against my head and touch his face. He pulls back. ‘I moan because it feels good for your hands to be on my cock.’ I nod. Keeping my hand on his face, I slide my other hand over him and squeeze. He does it again, closing his eyes halfway. This is what the books call half-mast. I do it again and he pulls my hand away. “If you keep that up I’ll never make it in you.” I read and look at his eyes. He’s happy. I can’t help but smile. I have control over his body. I’m feeling pretty good until his hands move and my shirt is gone. That was damn quick. I’m excited and breathing heavy as his hands move up to my breasts. Holy shit, this is way better than my hands. I’m undressed and on the bed, and I can’t remember getting here. He makes my head dizzy with kisses and his hands on me.

*  *  *

I’m not going to make it. She’s making sounds deep in her throat. She’s beautiful, just as I imagined, with curves in all the right places. I want to look at her, but I don’t think she’ll let me get away with that. She has no hesitation in me seeing her body and hasn’t taken her hands off me. I’m talking to her, but I have no idea if she understands. With her hands on me I’m close to losing it. I pull her hands away and she opens her eyes. “I’m going to get you ready for me, Sam I am. If you need me to stop pinch me.”

She nods, but her eyes are glazed and she’s panting. I kiss her lips and make my way down her beautiful fuckin’ curves. She’s going to love this. Taking her heavy tits in my hands, I squeeze and suck her nipple in. She cries out that low pitched sound and my dick jumps like it’s trained for it. Her hand holds my head to her, letting me know she likes this. I skate my hand lower and she lifts her hips. Fuckin’ nice. I can’t wait anymore. I kiss down to where my mouth needs to be. She’s got a small patch pointing me to her folds, sexy as hell. When my tongue swipes her clit she’s lifting her hips off the bed with that sound that’s driving me fuckin’ nuts. I spread her legs and taste her from the bottom up. I am so fucked. I know I won’t ever get enough.

With her hands on my head I miss my hair. I know she’d be pulling it. I moan and she presses my head down harder, making me smile. I slide my finger in her. She lifts her hips again and her noise is louder and longer. Fuck. I need to get her to keep still, but I’m not stopping to teach her now. She’s moving with my finger and tongue and I let her get there her way. Her body tightens up and I slide a second finger in, getting more sounds. She’s squeezing my head hard, making me work faster. I fuckin’ love it. Her body starts shaking and the noise is different. I lift my mouth off her and she cries out, pushing me back to her pussy. I like that she wants more and add a finger, stretching her open for me.

She lets out a wail, making me smile. I keep pumping my fingers in her, feeling her grabbing onto them. I slow my tongue down and move to taste her. Fuck! I’m ready to come with just her taste. When she calms I move up her so I can see her face. She looks like she’s surprised and dizzy all at the same time. I kiss her lips and pull away. “Next time I want to watch you come. It’s fuckin’ sexy as hell.”

Spotlight and Interview: The Viscount Returns by Eryn Black

The Viscount Returns

Eight years away to seek his fortune, Lord Robert Edden, the Viscount of Carlton has returned to find his estate transformed and his young bride a grown woman. There is little he can confess to his wife of his years away as he demands answers from her for the misuse of his lands as he has been away. Robert had left as a young man eager for adventure, but he has returned to his wife a Viscount ready to claim everything, including his bride. After so much time passed, would she welcome him with open arms or cast him out of her bed? As master of the house would he find his place or seek the next shooting star to chase across the ocean?
Married at a young age and abandoned on her wedding night, Fiona has spent the last eight years working on the lands her husband had left behind with no expectation of his return. For eight years she had been haunted with the memories of that one night they had shared in her bed. With so much time passed is there hope that she could once again open herself up to the man who had abandoned her and would he be able to accept the consequences of their one night together?

He smiled, remembering how scared she was when he came to her on their wedding night. She was in the very bed that she lay in now, with her coverlet pulled tight to her neck. Ready to get the whole business over when he rushed to her side, he pulled the coverlet back with force. Looking back now it was perhaps the wrong tactic to take. The intention was to make it quick and meaningless, just as he expected the rest of their marriage to be. He did not hesitate to take her maidenhead nor pause when she cried out in pain.

There was no denying that he had been a bastard to her that night. But then something changed and she came alive in his arms. Moving together their bodies spoke to each other and something changed between them that he had not expected. Their climax was in harmony and he was suddenly taken away to their many years together, of children and happiness. That was the
moment he had made his decision, if he was going to make his escape and find his fortune he had to do it soon before he fell in love with her. He had been a coward. A knock at the door awoke Robert from his dream.
He answered the door with admittance before hearing
who it may be. Turning to the sound of a guttural
sound, he saw Allen peering around the door. He had a
sheepish cock to his brow and waited for Robert’s
reply, which was quickly answered with a nod.
Stepping in, he closed the door behind him.
“Allen, I am sorry about what we have found here.
I never expected—”
Extending a hand before him, Allen silenced his
friend. “Please, do not trouble yourself. I know how hard you have worked and I have been there when you sent out the bank drafts home and I do not need to look hard to see what you had described to me so often. It is obvious some wrong has fallenon your family.” He stepped closer, but seemed to keep a distance. “With the knowledge of your son and the condition of your
marriage I think that your family and your estate need
you.” There was no avoiding the divide that was coming between them from honor and obligation. They had both been at fault for trying to escape the lives and
birthrights they had both been born into, and Allen knew as well as Robert that it was time to put their adventures aside to take their obligations with both
hands. It was time for them to grown up, and in doing so they had to put their friendship aside in exchange for the family and people who had been waiting all
these years for them to return to England.

“I know.” His head fell forward. Robert was weakened by his failure.“The first thing I need to do is find what became of the fortune I have sent over the years and what became of my steward. I have yet to see him since I have returned and I am beginning to fear that I was the fool in all of this.”Crossing to the window with determined steps, Allen released a deep breath. “I fear I may add to your pains. I will not be here when you awake.” It pained him to tell Robert. They had been friends for nearly eight years and lovers for almost six. “I don’t understand?
Is there something—”
Risking a step, he was stopped by the look on Allen’s face. Looking over his shoulder, his brow was creased in pain. “Your wife needs you and you need to know your son. That box you stowed in your saddle bag may be a few years late, but it holds every intention you had in taking your rightful place.” Nodding his head to stop Roberts’s argument. “You have a family here that needs you and I am a barrier for you.” Taking hold of Roberts’s shoulders, he smiled warmly. “This is not goodbye for us…we shall meet again.” He pulled him into his arms, their mouths molded together, but Robert could not find the peace in Allen’s touch that he was used to. “I could never stay away from you for good.” Tilting his head with a correction. “With the approval of your wife, that is.”

This book Also offers a chance to witness the growing bond between Lord Robert and Fiona from The Viscount returns.

~What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Read, Read, Read, Read. Is the best advice I can offer anyone. You want to keep the language alive in your head and reading is your strongest tool.

Something that I always keep at my side are two notebooks. One to take down notes for future projects and the other to give myself a daily bullet point task outline for my stories. Organization is key and keeping outlined notes for your daily writing not only helps you visualize your story before putting them to print, you also can help keep your word count high and productive. An important thing to remember is that you will always divert from your previously written plan and never fear that. Trust your instincts in the heat of the moment.

~Are you an organized author or scattered?

When writing multiple books at once you have to be organized to a point of OCD, however being a Dyslexic Author organization is a very important tool to keep me on track.

I keep a character bible for every book and when they cross over in series the bibles keep growing and growing.

~Do you plot out your story or write as it goes?

I do make a quick bullet point plot in the beginning just to note how my characters get from A to D, but detailed plotting is on a daily basis. Before I get to writing –normally over morning coffee- I outline the scenes I plan to concur that day. Often details change as the flow takes hold of my hands and my Muse inspires me.

~Do you have any strange writing habits?

I don’t know if these would be called strange. I do make playlists inspired by my characters for when I am driving and when it comes time to write a heated love scene I will pour myself a couple fingers of Hennessy. I suppose the only strange thing I do is keep-scented oils around; roses, lemon and sandalwood help bring the environment of my characters alive to me and other mementos. When I was writing Seduced By Her Master  I walked around with a set of ban-wa balls in a velvet pouch in my pocket or purse as way to keep focused on the main character.

~Do you have writers block and how do you work around it?

Everyone has suffered from writer’s block and it stinks. My moods and the story I am writing determine how I deal with it, I either force myself to type something for the time being and address it later or I step away completely and read a book.

~Do you work on 1 story at a time or multiples?

I always have two or three in the works and a couple waiting to go back to. I am ADD and OCD so focusing on one kind of goes against my nature. It is all about staying organized.

~What is your favorite genre to read?

Before 2008 the only romance novels I ever read were classics, but once the love bug bit I have not stopped reading. I still love to read adventures and comics, but romance now dominates my interest.

~What is the most wacky/crazy weird thing you received from a fan?

A picture messaged to me of him naked hugging his kindle. I am still trying to figure out why.

~What are your favorite hobbies?

I come from a theatre family so other than reading, what most people would consider a hobby I have always done socially or for work. Painting, woodworking, wiring ,lighting and F/X for my mother’s shows tends to be a focal fun activity for me when I am not writing. Other than that I love watching old movies and TV shows.

~If you had a warning label what would it say?

Beware, she talks a lot.

~Favorite quote?

Thus goes everyone to the world but I, and I am sunburnt

What happened next, she would look back on as the low blow that was her final straw. Just a little before lunchtime the following day, the most delicious tangy sweet smell hit her hard. She came out and saw a man in a puff chef’s hat in front of two circular hot plates. He ladled some white liquid onto one of the plates and carefully spread it out with a flat edge.
Crap! Crêpes.
She loved crêpes.
Tobey Fine had decided to play dirty and he was not going to get away with it.
She grabbed her phone and called him.
Tobey was just finishing up his set when he heard his phone dance on the bench.
CarmTech. Niveah. Allowing himself to enjoy what he thought was a small victory, he smiled and let it ring for another second before answering.
“Three days,” he spouted.
Taken aback by something other than a ‘hello,’ Niveah responded, “What?”
“It took you three days to call me back. Flowers then lunch from your favorite supermarket deli. You are not easy.”
“My favorite—how the hell did you—” Blake Allan Berrios was a dead man. “I’m going to kill him until he dies.”
“Now that’s not nice.” Tobey was enjoying the frustration he was hearing on the other end of the line.
“What do you want, Tobey?”
“A do-over,” he replied.
“What is this, middle school? You can’t undo that. It doesn’t work that way.”
“Okay, then I want to make it up to you. Properly.”
“Why?” Niveah’s voice was more tender than she meant it to be. A part of her had dreamed that he would say those words but when the moment had come, she didn’t trust it or the man saying it. Seven years was a long time and she wasn’t about to make it easy for him to see how much she wanted this. “Why do you want to make it up to me? It’s over and done. You made it clear and I got the message. So why this?”
Tobey sighed. He heard her tough words and it made him proud for some reason. But underneath all of that, something in her voice was challenging him to prove himself, his intentions. He decided he was up to the challenge. “Because while it took you three days to call me back, you could have just said nothing at all. That means I have a chance to say I’m sorry for what I did and that you’d actually forgive me for being a jerk that night.”
Niveah was prepared for some tired story about how fine she looked now compared to then. She was ready for all of that drivel but not for something so…sincere. She couldn’t believe what she was about to do but maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t as bad as she thought after all.
“All right.” She relented before she had a chance to change her mind.
She could practically hear Tobey grinning when he spoke, “Good. Be ready tonight at six. I’ll pick you up.”
“Just tell me where and—”
“I. Will. Pick. You. Up,” he ground out the words to make sure his point was clear.
“Fine,” Niveah mumbled. “Wait, how did you know I was going to even say yes or call today?”
“I didn’t. But since the crêpe chef is going to be in your office for a week, I thought my odds were good.”
“A week?” she screeched.
“Yep. One whole week. In your office. Every lunch.”
That was when Niveah smelled the unmistakable warm sweetness of chocolate, hazelnut, and strawberries. The chef was making one of her favorites.
God help her waistline.

Review: The Only One for Her by Carlie Sexton

When is a heart too broken to fix?

Just days before his wedding, handsome, successful entrepreneur, Trace Michaels, finds out his love wasn’t enough. With a broken heart, Trace lands in Maui, hoping to find solace in the beautiful island. What he finds is beauty, but in the form of an alluring, grieving woman. One he feels an instant and inescapable attraction to.

Young widow, Lindy Bernard, had her heart broken when her husband died. In Maui to reluctantly close a chapter in her life, she suddenly finds herself in the arms of a drop-dead, gorgeous Adonis. After his relentless pursuit, Lindy and Trace begin to find healing…only to have that endangered by a secret threatening to tear them apart.

All is not what it seems in Trace’s company, and it seems one woman has set out to ruin him. Can he juggle the odious plots against him while chasing the woman of his heart? Will she wait or are some hearts too broken to be fixed?

I couldn’t get the image of Lindy out of my mind—her long, golden hair waving in the breeze. The black halter dress, which showed off her gorgeous form. When I grabbed her to stop her from falling in, the feel of her body against mine had begun something to me. I felt the need to protect her. A desire to know her. It was the strangest thing that had ever happened to me. I hadn’t felt overpowered with emotion like this before. It wasn’t just physical attraction. Something about Lindy just called to me. My heart had gone out to her and when she walked away, she somehow took my heart with her., I wanted to know everything about her, but I’d only gotten her name.

Amy’s Review

4.5 STARS!!!!

Starting The Only One for Her, I was excited to see where Carlie Sexton went with this new book. I surely did not expect what I read. This book had a lot going on. With every turn when I thought I knew what was going to happen or who was doing what … I was wrong every time.

Poor Lindy and the life she had to go through. I couldn’t imagine dealing with all she did. I am so thankful that Dane was there for at least most of it. I just wish we could have gotten more of Dane in this book. Before everything happened. Trace is drop dead gorgeous, extremely ripped, sweet as sugar, sexy as sin and smart as hell. The total freaking package in that man. He had me swooning for him from the beginning. The crap he dealt with sucked too but thankfully Lindy was there to help with some of it. These two make a really cute couple. This would be that couple you see out and think “Ugh they make me sick!” They are that cute together. Lol.

This is a great read and I had fun watching Lindy find herself again and seeing these two come together. Oh and let me say I HATE Randy. Lol. If you haven’t read a Carlie Sexton book this is a great one to start with.

Review: Missing (The Brannock Siblings Book 3) by Jessica Wilde

There are two things in this life that Gus Brannock truly loves; his family and his job. His family is growing and he wants what his brother and sister have before the job he’s worked so hard for takes its toll. The woman he’s got his eye on, however, isn’t interested in being with a man who risks his life every day. When the unexpected friendship with the sassy red head he used to hate turns into something Gus just doesn’t want to live without, he will do whatever it takes to have her. The hazards of his job as a detective for missing children may end up proving to be too much, but there’s a reason Aiden was brought into his life and nothing will stand in his way to keep her there.

Aiden Murphy used to hate the handsome jerk next door until a surprising discovery spun her world in another direction. Her life of devotion to her sister and niece has been her biggest strength with the exception of her art. That is, until Gus turns out to be the one thing that has been missing from that life all along. Aiden must decide if the unknown is worth the risk of loving the dedicated detective or if being pulled into his world is more than she can handle. When Gus becomes the only way for her to keep the people she loves most safe, will she understand why he treasures her untried strength or will she let her fear of the unknown decide for her?

For readers 18+ due to strong language and sexual situations.

Amy’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

Wow! I loved every minute of this amazing book. Gus is hot, sweet, sexy, and a smart ass. Reading about him and Aiden going back and forth at the beginning had me laughing so hard. I loved the banter and pranks between them. Aiden/Red is a smart and sassy firecracker. She’s quick on her comebacks and is perfect for Gus. Watching these two grow closer together even with a bump in the road was fun. I even teared up a few times. I loved these two. There was one part during the story that had my heart exploding and putting Gus above his brothers on my favorites list. He is absolutely amazing.

I love the Brannock family. They are awesome. When someone is in trouble they all come running without question. They hold their family above anything else and they welcome people with open arms. I can’t wait to read Protector to see what happens next.

I have to admit that the Epilogue killed me. Tears poured out of my eyes as I read it. And I don’t know why because believe me it wasn’t sad, but I have a soft spot in my heart for Liam.

Review: Conned (The Brannock Siblings Book 2) by Jessica Wilde

Conall Brannock takes his job seriously. He doesn’t get attached, he doesn’t ask questions, and he protects his family at all costs. Nothing will change that. Not even the sweet, green eyed witness that just burst into his life and shifted his world. He has one job to do; protect Emily until she can testify. He can’t let his interest in her get in the way, but the more he finds out about her, the more he can’t help but wonder how the beautiful broken girl got into this mess in the first place. And the longer he takes to learn the truth, the deeper he falls for her.

Emily Dawson has a job to do. Stay off the grid, testify, and hopefully get her brother back. He’s all she has left of the family she struggled so hard to hold together and she would do anything to keep him safe. Even if it means she has put herself in harm’s way or that she has conned everyone into believing she saw something she didn’t. She knows where her loyalties lie, but her stoic yet gentle protector and his crazy family makes her question everything she once knew.

Loyalty can be one sided.
Family isn’t always blood.
And honesty can destroy everything she has come to love.

For readers 18+ due to strong language and sexual content.

Amy’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

Holy hell! Jessica Wilde is killing me with these men. Conned was more intense than Leverage and I wasn’t sure that was possible. I’m still loving the dad though. Lol.

Conall and Emily. I just finished reading this and I’m not sure I can get my thoughts together. I absolutely loved these two. Conall might possibly be better than Lucas from Leverage and I really thought no one would top him. But Conall definitely does. He has the same going for him as Lucas. Hot, sweet, smart, caring and good at his job. But there is just something about him that pulled me in so deeply into the book. I couldn’t stop reading. Couldn’t get enough of him.

Emily is a sweet girl who is just trying to look out for her brother. He gets her mixed up in some crazy shit and gets her to do things for him. Of course she’s smart and knows it’s wrong but wants to help her brother out. Her only family left. I really felt for her. I couldn’t imagine going through what she did. A lot of parts during this book ripped my heart out and a lot made me want to explode with happiness. My emotions will be out of wack for a while.

When these two finally come together I swear it was earth shattering. Of course the first thought I had was “Finally!” but it was so much more than that. I could feel the tension with these two. It was driving me nuts. Emily definitely has better self control because I would have jumped on him a lot sooner. Ha ha!

I have only ever had the urge to peak at the ending one other time before I started reading this series. With the first two it was a constant struggle with myself not to do it. Just to prepare myself for what would happen. There is so much suspense and mystery on top of the crazy emotions already going on. I am loving these Brannock men and am excited to see what will happen in the next book with Gus Gus.

This series is a MUST read!!!

Jessica’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

His Angel is the second in Samantha Cole’s Trident series, but it’s just as good as Leather & Lace.

His Angel is Ian’s story, his path to Angie. Ian is one of the “Sexy Six Pack”, a group of retired Seals and joint owner of Trident Security. While helping one of the guys move, Ian notices the neighbor Angie. After a quick talk with Angie’s best friend, Ian gets the excuse he needs to spend more time watching her. WHen Angie is stood up by a blind date, she takes a chance and accepts Ian’s offer for dinner. Sparks fly and passions ignite. Soemtimes a fire burns so brightly that it damages everything in it’s path though.

Samantha Cole manages to create a story that completely draws you in. By the middle of the book, I wanted to know more about everyone else, not just the main characters. Mysterious Athos. Soothing Marchos. Tender Jake. Sassy Shelby. The list goes on. Each side character brings a unique viewpoint, making you realize what a well rounded book His Angel is. There are plenty of HOT steamy scenes, sweet tender loving moments, drama and oh my goodness the tears and anger! I may have wanted to throw my kindle at a certian part. I can’t wait to see what happens next with the gentlemen of Trident Security.
