Bernadette Guillory’s looking for her place in the world.

Cast out of modeling and living with relatives, Bernie’s desperate for a job. Good-looking, single Jared becomes her staunchest ally in her search for a better life, despite her brother-in-law’s threats. Jared says all he wants with her is some fun, but her vulnerability and innocence tug at his tender heartstrings, and soon they’re far more than friends.

Bernie’s search for a job ends in the wrong place, and when Jared finds out, everything she’s built for herself crashes down around her. Deported, broke, and alone, she’s vulnerable to all kinds of people. When she vanishes, Jared has to decide if love really can conquer all. And that decision won’t matter if they can’t find her before her poor choice leads to a fate far worse than death.

Spotlight and Interview: Safe with Him (The Safe Series 2) by Tina Bass

Safe With Him

Bree Winters grew up distrusting cops and all they stood for, with only her brother to take care of her. After years of being forced to live apart, Bree moves to the small town of Mt. Eve with two goals in mind: to once again have her brother nearby and turn the dream she’s worked years to accomplish into a reality. Now with one goal met and her dream so close, she’s thrust into a situation filled with the things she hates the most…deception, lies, and cops.

Draco Vittore grew up in a life he didn’t want. At a very young age Draco discovered the true meaning of ‘bad guys’ and the type of person he didn’t want to be. Now a Virginia State police officer in their specialty unit, he’s good at two things:being a cop and picking up women—and he’s never had a problem in either department. His rules are simple—be the best damn cop he can be and never bring a woman home.

Until—a chance encounter involving a broken shower, a situation he won’t back down from, and a woman he can’t seem to forget.

When Bree’s life is threatened with a fate worse than death, Draco will do anything to keep her safe. Will he cross a line he can’t come back from? Or will both of their pasts keep her from being… Safe With Him?

Bree walked across the parking lot and through the trees to his back yard. She had to be desperate, no beyond desperate, to be going anywhere with a cop, much less to his freakin’ house.
“Yep, you’re crazy and stupid.” She mumbled to herself.
“What?” Draco asked.
Oh crap, was that out loud? “Nothing. Soooo, are you married?” She didn’t really expect him to be truthful about it.
“NO!” He choked. “What the hell made you think that?”
She shrugged her shoulders. “No reason. Just making conversation. So what are you, the wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am kind of guy? No conversation required?”
He stumbled in his step and then grunted something under his breath.
“Easy there weeble-wobble. You fall down from way up there, you may break something.” She smirked at him.
“Nice to know you care.” He flashed that sexy grin at her.
“You break something and I’ll be out of a shower.” She shrugged her shoulders again and watched his grin fade. Good she told herself. Nobody needs to be staring at that oh-so-very sexy grin. Stop it! She scolded herself.
“He’s a freakin’ cop; just look at him.” She mumbled. Then made the mistake of looking over at him where he had just taken a few steps ahead of her, so she got a good view of his back and his backside. Shouldn’t uniform pants be—not so tight? She thought to herself, just looking at that firm butt and tight muscular thighs as he walked. “Bet he works out.” She continued to mumble to herself. Yep, at a gym. A coed gym so he could be all cocky and sexy and— “Stop!” She hissed out loud to herself.
“Why?” He stopped and turned around and looked at her. Okay so maybe she said all of that a little too loudly.
“Uh…you walk too fast.” She covered fast.
“Sorry.” He said with another hint of a blush?
What was that? Did he have the ability to pull something like that out on a whim? Yeah, he probably did. It was probably one of his many cocky superpowers that made him think he could get any girl at any time just by flashing that sexy grin and adding a hint of a blush that made him look too dang sexy for a girl’s peace of mind. He just stood there while she took the few extra steps that brought her up beside him. “So. You live alone?”
“Yeah, just me.” He started walking beside her again.
Great, she thought, another bachelor pad that will probably look like her brother’s. “What’s with guys and cleaning? Did they think someone’s gonna’ sneak in and cut off their balls if they picked up a broom every once in a while?” She mumbled.

Safe in the Storm (Book 3 in The Safe Series)

~What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Write what you know with a dash of make-believe, a pinch of “Oh Sh*t!” sprinkled with a little “ha ha” through out. And keep on writing!!

~Are you an organized author or scattered?

I want to say organized, and I try, but truly I’m so scattered. I have notes all over the house written on anything from notepads (which I bought for that purpose), to the back of an envelope or receipt and even on a paper towel.

~Do you plot out your story or write as it goes?

I write as it goes.

~Do you have any strange writing habits?

Not sure as they are not “strange” to me, but a few of my habits include candy, music and Mtn Dew. Or maybe they’re more of an addiction than habit, not really sure.  But I always have some kind of candy, right now its Jelly Belly jelly beans and Twix bites, Mtn Dew, regular not diet, and my playlist which tends to grow as I write.

~Do you have writers block and how do you work around it?

So far I haven’t had “writers block” so much as a “scene block” from time to time. Basically it’s the process of moving from one scene to the next.  That gap in between,  that can stall me out for a small amount of time until I can figure it out.

~Do you work on 1 story at a time or multiples?

I try to work on one story at a time, but most often I end up writing a scene for a future book. Right now I have so many folders saved with different scenes from about 10 future books.

~What is your favorite genre to read?

~What is the most wacky/crazy weird thing you received from a fan?

Hmmm…. See that’s one I can’t answer yet!  I haven’t been writing that long and don’t have those die hard fans that do the wacky and weird.  I had a fan that made me a wonderful you tube video about my first book.  But, I don’t consider that weird or wacky… just wonderful!

~What are your favorite hobbies?

Reading, writing, listening to music, and watching old (or not so old), shows on Netflix.

~If you had a warning label what would it say?

That is a tough one.  My best friend has said for years that I’m a “Saint” and I guess I’m pretty even tempered, and will take a lot.  But, when I lose it, and it takes a lot, so maybe, “Contents can explode when under pressure.”  Hahahaha.

Spotlight and Interview: The Gangster’s Woman (Love is a Dangerous Thing 2) by Ginger Ring

The Gangster's Woman

Now that prohibition was over, FBI agent Michael Flynn hoped to enjoy the quiet life and a chance to finally concentrate on finding his best friend’s sister. He’d been in love with her since he first laid eyes on her picture. Unfortunately, the more he searched the more he realized she wasn’t just missing. Eryn was hiding from one of the most notorious gangsters around. One who wouldn’t rest until he knew she was dead.
Eryn O’Malley had been moving around for years, doing whatever legal, or illegal job she could find to survive. No time for romance or a normal life. A one night stand with a handsome man at the county fair seemed like just the ticket to escape for a moment from her troubled life. However, finding out he was a G-man wasn’t part of the plan. Now he was on her trail. Whether to arrest or rescue her, she wasn’t sure, and she couldn’t wait around to find out. If he caught her, would he forgive her checkered past or would he always think of her as the gangster’s woman?

“Don’t tell me you are eating all alone?” a soft, sultry voice asked.
He turned to see who had uttered the words but the sun was behind her, shading her face. Was she the same young lady he’d seen from the distance?
“I won’t be alone if you dine with me.” Michael slid down the side of the bench and motioned for her to take a seat.
Her plate of chicken joined his on the table. Michael looked up from their food and smiled into the prettiest green eyes he’d ever seen. They were the color of jade. The large beating organ in his chest skipped a few beats, and he had to remind himself to keep breathing. Her eyes held him captive, until she dropped her gaze to her plate. His fingers itched to caress the smooth light skin of her face. She had the cutest nose. Whoa. Michael shook his head. The heat must be getting to him. He was mooning over some dame’s nose and he didn’t even know who she was, her hat still shading her face more than he would like. It was the girl he had noticed earlier, that was for sure.
“Name’s Michael.” He held out his hand. “What’s yours?”
Her face caught the light and he stilled. If it weren’t for years of being calm and collected while playing poker he would’ve gasped. She looked just like Eryn, well, a mature version of her, but that couldn’t be. The picture was black and white, six or more years old, and she was probably dead. The woman beside him was full of color and life. Her ivory colored cheeks where kissed by a few freckles, her pump lips were peach colored, and her hair was a vibrate, dark mahogany. John said her hair was red, but who could tell the real color under her hat?
Michael had never been a praying man but if he was, he would ask for only this one. Please let it be his Eryn that he had searched for.
She still hadn’t answered but seemed to be studying him just as diligently as he was examining her.
He lifted the beer to his lips and swallowed half the bottle in one gulp. “I apologize for staring, but you remind me of someone else.”
“That’s all right.” That voice of hers sent a lightning bolt of heat up his spine. She folded the napkin in her lap and returned those green eyes to his. “Michael’s a fine name.”
He chuckled. “I’m glad you like it, but are you ever going to tell me yours? I don’t like to eat with strangers.”
“You think I’m a stranger?” his dinner companion asked before lifting a chicken leg to her lips.
“You’re a stranger that I would like to get better acquainted with.” Michael twisted to see her better. “What’s your name, beautiful?”
Her nose lifted. Make that, her cute nose lifted. “What do you want it to be?” A grin crossed her mouth.

Review: Finding Reese (Searching for Love, Book 2) by Noelle Stevens

This is Book 2 of the Searching for Love romance serial.

Reese is scared she might be falling for Brody, the man she met in Malibu. Fleeing to Yellowstone National Park seems like a good idea—it’s a place she’s always wanted to visit, and it’s far away from Brody.

Unaware of her reasons for leaving, Brody knows he’s fallen for her, and when she runs away without so much as a good-bye, he decides to find her and convince her to give him a chance.

Will his love be enough to help her overcome her self-doubts?

Amy’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

I have been a Noelle Stevens fan from her first book and she has yet to disappoint me. I couldn’t wait for Finding Reese to be released so that I could find out what happened next and now I’m trying to be patient for book three. I am hooked on these books and stop everything to read them.

Reese and Brody are so stinking cute together. I love that Brody (rich and sexy) did what he needed to do to find her. To get to her to show her how he felt and tell her too. The fact that Reese (struggling sweetie) has her internal struggles holds her back from a lot. She thinks her past will mess up her future. Poor girl. She’s had it a little rough. I want so bad for this to be a HEA that it’s ridiculous. These two are meant for each other. I really hope it works out. And I really hope that Brody is right and his family will love Reese regardless of her past and family issues.

Review: Conned (The Brannock Siblings Book 2) by Jessica Wilde

Conall Brannock takes his job seriously. He doesn’t get attached, he doesn’t ask questions, and he protects his family at all costs. Nothing will change that. Not even the sweet, green eyed witness that just burst into his life and shifted his world. He has one job to do; protect Emily until she can testify. He can’t let his interest in her get in the way, but the more he finds out about her, the more he can’t help but wonder how the beautiful broken girl got into this mess in the first place. And the longer he takes to learn the truth, the deeper he falls for her.

Emily Dawson has a job to do. Stay off the grid, testify, and hopefully get her brother back. He’s all she has left of the family she struggled so hard to hold together and she would do anything to keep him safe. Even if it means she has put herself in harm’s way or that she has conned everyone into believing she saw something she didn’t. She knows where her loyalties lie, but her stoic yet gentle protector and his crazy family makes her question everything she once knew.

Loyalty can be one sided.
Family isn’t always blood.
And honesty can destroy everything she has come to love.

For readers 18+ due to strong language and sexual content.

Amy’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

Holy hell! Jessica Wilde is killing me with these men. Conned was more intense than Leverage and I wasn’t sure that was possible. I’m still loving the dad though. Lol.

Conall and Emily. I just finished reading this and I’m not sure I can get my thoughts together. I absolutely loved these two. Conall might possibly be better than Lucas from Leverage and I really thought no one would top him. But Conall definitely does. He has the same going for him as Lucas. Hot, sweet, smart, caring and good at his job. But there is just something about him that pulled me in so deeply into the book. I couldn’t stop reading. Couldn’t get enough of him.

Emily is a sweet girl who is just trying to look out for her brother. He gets her mixed up in some crazy shit and gets her to do things for him. Of course she’s smart and knows it’s wrong but wants to help her brother out. Her only family left. I really felt for her. I couldn’t imagine going through what she did. A lot of parts during this book ripped my heart out and a lot made me want to explode with happiness. My emotions will be out of wack for a while.

When these two finally come together I swear it was earth shattering. Of course the first thought I had was “Finally!” but it was so much more than that. I could feel the tension with these two. It was driving me nuts. Emily definitely has better self control because I would have jumped on him a lot sooner. Ha ha!

I have only ever had the urge to peak at the ending one other time before I started reading this series. With the first two it was a constant struggle with myself not to do it. Just to prepare myself for what would happen. There is so much suspense and mystery on top of the crazy emotions already going on. I am loving these Brannock men and am excited to see what will happen in the next book with Gus Gus.

This series is a MUST read!!!

Jessica’s Review:

5 STARS!!!!!

His Angel is the second in Samantha Cole’s Trident series, but it’s just as good as Leather & Lace.

His Angel is Ian’s story, his path to Angie. Ian is one of the “Sexy Six Pack”, a group of retired Seals and joint owner of Trident Security. While helping one of the guys move, Ian notices the neighbor Angie. After a quick talk with Angie’s best friend, Ian gets the excuse he needs to spend more time watching her. WHen Angie is stood up by a blind date, she takes a chance and accepts Ian’s offer for dinner. Sparks fly and passions ignite. Soemtimes a fire burns so brightly that it damages everything in it’s path though.

Samantha Cole manages to create a story that completely draws you in. By the middle of the book, I wanted to know more about everyone else, not just the main characters. Mysterious Athos. Soothing Marchos. Tender Jake. Sassy Shelby. The list goes on. Each side character brings a unique viewpoint, making you realize what a well rounded book His Angel is. There are plenty of HOT steamy scenes, sweet tender loving moments, drama and oh my goodness the tears and anger! I may have wanted to throw my kindle at a certian part. I can’t wait to see what happens next with the gentlemen of Trident Security.

Spotlight: The Demon Wars Series by Lauren Peyton

Demonically Yours (The Demon Wars 1)

He was built for sin…
I fell for a dark stranger, a painfully beautiful one. With his impressive physique and exotic accent, I couldn’t keep him out of my dreams. But when those dreams turned to nightmares I started looking for answers. I’d asked the questions before, but I’d always been kept in the dark. Who Am I? Why Am I Different?

I demand the truth, I have to know what my part in this war is before it’s too late… And why the vision of this dark stranger captivates me…

It was a dream. It was all just a dream. A very screwed up, emotionally damaging, horrible dream. Ava’s breath caught in her throat. Her dark hair hung in waves below her shoulders. Somehow she had flung herself up into a sitting position. Her breathing was labored as if she had really just been running for her life. She could feel the hysteria bubbling from her gut. The dream had been vivid. She looked down at her knee, remembering that she had fallen in the damn nightmare, and saw that it was bruised, but she dismissed the injury. She worked at a bar, and she always had unexplainable cuts and bruises.Slowly, she climbed out of the queen-size bed she loved. It was warm, and a pillow top, but no matter the comfort level it could not keep her nightmares at bay. They were getting to be more and more frequent. Ava opened the nightstand beside her bed, took out the leather bound journal and matching pen then started towards the kitchen. She needed tea. When she turned the light on, the soft hum in the background drew her attention. She hated dead silence. Silence reminded her of the nightmares. She filled the antique kettle her uncle valued. He had told her many stories over tea. He loved to talk about her mother, his youngest sister. She was the most vibrant of them all. She had big plans in life, but had died much too young. That is why Ava intended on living her mother’s dreams for her, but her uncle did not think it was the best idea and constantly tried to dissuade her from the idea. She began to write in her journal. Her pen flew over the paper as she wrote out every detail of her nightmare. She wanted to remember this one along with many others. It seemed as if they were happening frequently.

Demonically Bound (The Demon Wars 2)

When I was released from Hell it was conditional. My daughter, Ava, sold herself to earn my freedom from the shackles that contained me for so long. Before my wrists could even heal I was summoned by the elders of the lust demon faction and ordered to find a demon who was going to prove vital in the pending demon war. I was to do whatever was necessary to get the information she had. Did I have the strength to torture and kill the demon if necessary after my own imprisonment? The question raged in my mind until I saw the demon…

Avaraz was awakened by a playful blow to his stomach and laugh.

“Get up, we need to get you in shape.” Caine was too eager to get Avaraz back into training.

“What about sleep?”

“You like to sleep as much as Ava, we need to train. Your mark has been announced.”

“Call it an inherited trait for her.” Avaraz rolled over and away from the crimson-eyed demon annoying

him.“Let’s go. “ Caine put hands on two spots on the bed and used his upper body strength to flip the mattress and send Avaraz to the floor.

“I swear you act like a ten year old at his first sleep-over Caine. Will you ever grow up?”

“Come, now.”

Caine walked out of the room. Avaraz was half tempted to roll back over and pull blankets over his head, but Caine would return soon and if he wasn’t up there would be some sort of juvenile shenanigans. He regretted asking his daughter’s mate to help him train for the mission. He was awake much too early.

“Why aren’t you off celebrating your mating?” Avaraz hollered to Caine.

“Already did this morning…twice.”
“I did not need to hear that.”
Avaraz’s eyes popped open so his imagination wouldn’t conjure an image of his closest friend and daughter having sex. That would be quite disturbing. He shuddered at even having a possibility of seeing it more than what he saw already. Avaraz got up off the floor and pulled on a pair of shorts that rested low on his hips. He was skinnier than he was before his time on the wall, it would take time for him to rebuild to where he once was.

His hands reached for a plain white tank top, he exited his room to find Caine eating something in the kitchen. Avaraz swore that demon could eat them out of house and home. Caine always had something in his mouth.

“Thank you for the lovely wakeup call.” Avaraz’s voice dripped with sarcasm.

“My pleasure.” Caine spoke with his mouth full. “Where are we going for training?”
“Same place I took Ava. It’s out of the way and no one goes there.” Avaraz looked into Caine’s mind and found the location he had in mind and nodded. “I will follow you.”

Caine stood and shimmered out of the penthouse, Avaraz took a breath and followed behind. He arrived at the warehouse seconds later and Caine was already inside. He could hear the other demon fooling around with mats and barbells for training. Avaraz entered slowly, he still longed for the tender, warm embrace of his bed.

The final mat was finally dropped into place. Caine turned toward Avaraz.

“What do you want to start with? Physical or mental?” Caine asked.

“Mental.” Avaraz answered swiftly. “Offensive or defensive?”
“I’ll start with defense.”
“I won’t take it easy on you, my friend.” “I hope you won’t.” “I’ll beam an image of your daughter and I having sex into your mind. You better keep your shield up or it’ll be all you see, how she gets the thickness delivered every night.” Caine chuckled.

“Sadist. Before you ask, your ass looks fat when you’re nude.” Avaraz had already seen more than he would ever want to see.

“Get to work.”

Caine immediately set in with his attempts to penetrate the shields that Avaraz had in place. The first image came through and almost knocked Avaraz down, his daughter on her knees in front of Caine. No. Avaraz pushed Caine out with a powerful yell.

“Do better.” Caine demanded.

Again the shields were prodded in his mind. It was an internal battle. Neither male moved, but sweat blossomed on their skin, both exerting extreme force to win the battle of wills. Suddenly Caine tried to break one of the shields Avaraz was building quickly His strength and ability were returning to him surprisingly fast. Perhaps the elders had a hand in it he thought.

“Good, my friend.” Caine’s voice echoed.
“What else do you have?” He taunted.

Spotlight: The Evolution of Elsa Kreiss (Kriminal Erotic Series Book 2) by Michele E. Gwynn

New Career, Same Kriminals.

From spanking bad men to arresting them, Elsa Kreiss’s life takes a sharp turn from enforcing the rules of her dungeon to enforcing the rules of law after she joins the German police force. An unsolved case of three missing girls from Charlottenburg pulls her mentor, Kommissar Joseph Heinz, back into the dark abyss just as love finds him. While he searches for a killer, she fights an attraction to a very bad boy. Lukas Trommler is everything she likes in a man; cocky, confident, and hot. An art buyer at a local gallery, Lukas exudes culture with an edge of danger. He invites her into his world where she comes face to face with a familiar monster, Yuri Ivchencko, one of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world with ties to the Russian mafia. His obsession with the sick and twisted side of human nature expressed in art offends Elsa, who doesn’t hesitate to say so. Her outburst lands her squarely on his radar.

A note signed by none other than Ivchencko is delivered to her hands. Their worlds are about to collide, and not everyone will survive. Can Elsa trust Lukas or is he far more dangerous than she imagines? What does Ivchencko want of her, and how is he connected to Lukas? Who is the killer, and who will be killed? Time is running out, and Elsa must embrace her inner dominatrix to save her friends and family.

He looked at Elsa. She was very pretty, and very young. Some men liked that. Still, he couldn’t turn her loose on any of his highbrow clientele. She wouldn’t know what she was doing, and it took a very strong level of confidence and knowledge to know how to inflict pain without harm. She’d be a liability as a dominatrix, but as basically a maid, she’d do. And the dommes would stop complaining to him all the time.

“All right. But she starts at the bottom, and you and Hans are responsible for her. She must learn to clean every single piece of equipment properly and quickly, and if she messes up, if even one of the dommes complains about her, that’s it. No job!”

He walked out and left them standing there. After the door closed, Hans grabbed Elsa up in his muscular arms and swung her around. “You got the job! Fantastische, mein Liebling!”

Smiling hugely and feeling as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, Elsa laughed, then kissed Hans on his cheek. “Danke, mein Freund! Danke, David!” Hans set her down and she hugged David, too.

“Don’t thank me yet. We have to work hard to make you the best maid these dommes have ever seen. And in between, we’re going to teach you the art of dominance and submission. It’s really the only way you’ll be able to make any real money to survive.” Hans was so happy to hear his lover say this that he kissed him full on the lips. It turned a little sloppy as they momentarily forgot Elsa was in the room.

“Geez, guys. Cool it down!” She laughed at their antics. Her friend was so in love with David, and so happy to be working with him at Club Sexo as a ticket

agent, and now his best girlfriend would be working there, too. Hans was over the moon.

That’s how it began. She’s worked hard and listened to everything the guys taught her. David showed her how to hog-tie a man in a way that was painful and pleasurable, but not permanently damaging. He also secured Mistress Lena’s cooperation to allow Elsa to observe her work so she could learn how it’s done first hand. In two years, she’d gone from maid to dominatrix. In another year, she was a top-draw attraction at the club and in high demand. Two years after that, she’d quit at the top of her game in the BDSM business after a life-changing event. Her brother, who meant everything to her, had been kidnapped by a known sex trafficking criminal and taken out of Germany to Amsterdam at the whim of a sick pedophile named Peter Knudson.

Everything changed then. The true miracle, however, was that they got Anno back before any harm could come to him. That never happens, according to Kriminalkommissar Joseph Heinz who was the lead detective on the case. Heinz used his connections through Interpol to help get Anno back. They wouldn’t have even known where to find him had it not been for new friends she’d made at the time, Sarah Brown and Paul Christiansen. Actually, it was because of the latter that Anno had been taken to begin with. The pedo was Paul’s uncle who’d sexually abused him as a child. It turned out that Knudson had targeted Anno on a recruiting mission in Berlin, and he blamed his nephew for causing him to lose out on gaining Elsa as an employee, a ruse he invented to get his hands on Anno.

Heinz brought her brother home safe and sound, and unharmed. Since that day, Elsa vowed to find a new career, one that would have her home at night to better keep an eye on Anno, and one in which she would be around a better quality of people. She really wasn’t quite sure what that career might be, but she told Heinz and his partner, Birgitta Mahler, that somehow, she wanted to help others, and maybe work in a field where she could fight against people like Knudson.

Spotlight: Roping Two Frogs by Scarlett Jade

unnamed (1)

Laura Monroe moved to Texas for a job advertising the fledgling Cowboy Denim Company owned by brothers Beau and Heath Dawson. But nothing was going like it was supposed to. She didn’t plan on Heath being an angry, broken veteran that irritated her. Nor did she expect that Beau would be the sweet balm that soothed her. Falling in love with one brother was impossible. Falling in love with them both was out of the question…or so she thought.
A woman both men once loved tried to break up their happiness. Laura ran away because she refused to be anyone’s second choice. A heartfelt letter called her back to the ranch a couple months later, and she found that she had not one but two surprises in store for the brothers.
Roping one frog into happily ever after was hard enough for a girl to do, but capturing two men up in love’s lasso was nearly impossible.
Is happily ever after in the cards?

Beau’s brow crinkled, and he shook his head. “Don’t run her off, Heath.”

“I ain’t gonna do that. She wants me, Beau,” Heath retorted cockily.

“I most certainly do not want you!” Laura shrieked, stomping one small foot in the dirt. “How dare you talk about me like I’m not even here?”

“Princess, you kissed me back. Your little wet, hot tongue tangled with mine. Deny it all you want to.” Heath chuckled.

Laura’s face went into full flame, and she rolled her eyes. “Go to hell.”

“I’m already there, sweetheart.” His eyes darkened and his face went taut.

Beau cleared his throat. “Stop it, Heath. Laura, I apologize for my oaf of a brother.”

“I ain’t sorry.” Heath smirked, and Laura fought the urge to slap the cocky grin off his perfectly formed lips.

“I accept your apology, Beau. Obviously Heath was dropped on his head as a child.”

“Hey!” Heath yelled.

“Look, guys, we’re losing prime light here,” Bob interjected.

Laura flounced away, back to the house. “Do what you want. I’m going to the house.”

She wrapped her arms around herself and nibbled at her bottom lip. Heath’s kiss was unnerving, delicious, and wrong, all at the same time. Why in the hell did he kiss me? Oh my God, it felt so good. She closed her eyes for a fraction of a second, savoring the memory of his mouth on

hers. Her foot went into a dip in the path and her eyes jerked wide as she fell forward, her elbows catching the brunt of her weight. A sickening pain ricocheted up from her ankle, and she cried out. Pushing herself back to sitting, she gripped her throbbing leg. Stupid girl! You’ve twisted your ankle thinking about that jerk. Good job!

Within the space of thirty seconds, Heath and Beau were beside her. “You okay, Laura?” Beau asked gently.

She shook her head, not even caring that her mascara was running down her face right along with her tears. “No.”

“Where are you hurt?” Heath asked.
“M-my ankle!” she hiccupped.
“I’ll carry you to the house.” Heath insisted, and

before she could tell him no, that she was way too big for all that, she was caught up in his arms.

“Heath, you shouldn’t be carrying her!” Beau argued.

“Shut up. I made her run off being a dick, so I’m carrying her.”

Laura could see that she was hurting him. His jaw was tight, and the muscles there played with each step he took. “Put me down,” she sniffled. “I’m fat.”

“Shut up. You’re not fat. You’re beautiful, and I’m a jerk,” he ground out.

Laura gasped. “You think I’m beautiful?”
“It’s what I said, ain’t it?” Heath growled.
Beau sighed behind them. “Let me carry her. You’re

going to mess up your leg too, then I’ll be stuck babying both of you.”

“Shut up, Beau. I’ve got her. You’re not touching her.”

Laura shivered at the gruff words. Why is he being so testy about Beau carrying me? What the hell?

The progress to the house was slow, but Laura didn’t mind being held in Heath’s arms. He was still damp from being squirted with the hose and the heat radiating off his body was wonderful. Her ankle still throbbed, but it was nothing compared to the throb building in other areas of her body.

“Come on, Heath, pass her over,” Beau argued.

Heath’s grip on her grew tighter. “I said no. She’s mine.”

“Um, I’m not yours,” Laura piped up.

“Keep telling yourself that, princess,” Heath murmured.

Beau sighed. “All right, caveman, but if you want Cowboy Denim to work, you better not run her off.”

“Don’t worry.” Heath insisted.

He carried her up the porch, and she pushed at his chest. “Let me down.”

“What? No, you have to get upstairs,” Heath argued.

“Yeah, and you’re shaking all over, you can’t get me up those stairs. I’m heavy, and I’m hurting you.”

“I can get you up the stairs, dammit.” Heath insisted, pushing through the front door and placing his foot on the bottom step.

“No. I’ll put my arm around your neck, and you can help support me up the stairs if you insist, but you’re not carrying me.” Laura squirmed in his arms and tried to extract herself from his grasp.

“Fine, damn stubborn woman.” Heath slid her down his body, and Laura did not miss one ripple or divot of his muscles. Oh my God!

She flushed hot and tried to step back from his beautiful body. She wavered on her good foot, unable to put weight down on the other. “This is all unnecessary. I can make it upstairs.”

“Why, and deny me the pleasure of you blushing hot? It’s okay, Laura, I know I’m sexy. You’re just so cute when you’re all flustered.”

“Oh good God, I can’t take any more of this,” Beau groaned. “While you two flirt and figure out the pecking order, I’m gonna call doc to come look at that ankle. Heath, don’t do too much and mess yourself up.”

Laura watched Beau storm off down the hall. “What’s his problem?”

“Ah, I think he might’ve had the hots for you. I claimed you first.” Heath explained.

“Um, I’m not claimed by anyone.”

“That’s what Kelsey used to say too. You remind me of her. I haven’t figured out if that’s a good thing or not. Regardless, your ankle is hurt, and you need to go upstairs. Now, I guess it’s your choice, do you want my brother, or do you want me?” Heath’s hazel eyes had gone dark, and Laura swallowed nervously, her gaze darting away from

him.“Right now I don’t want either of you.”
“Okay, princess, whatever gets you through the day.

Come on, put your arm around me and let’s get you upstairs.”

Laura rolled her eyes and put her arm around Heath’s broad shoulder. He took on most of her weight as they slowly traversed the staircase. Both were panting and shaking by the time they made it to the top, and Laura chuckled. “We’re out of shape.”

“Your shape is just fine, Laura.”
