Excerpt

Those bitches were gonna die.

That was a horrible thing to say about my so-called ‘friends’—and I used the word friends loosely, because true friends wouldn’t ditch you the day of your scheduled road trip because they’d rather be sunbathing in the Hamptons.

The fucking Hamptons.

Ew.

I mean, how clichéd could you get.

This was why I hated rich people.

It also sucked that I was one of those rich people.

Well, I wasn’t, but my dad was.

So by extension so was I.

When you grew up with a rock star for a dad, cameras and eyes followed you everywhere. It was exhausting.

I couldn’t just be Willow.

I was Willow Wade.

The daughter of the famous drummer Maddox Wade.

People expected greatness from me.

I just wanted to graduate college without slitting my wrists.

The Road That Leads To Us (Us, #1)The Road That Leads To Us by Micalea Smeltzer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

MIchalea Smeltzer manages to completely capture the coming of age angst with Willow and Dean. Willow is a strong willed, opinionated, passionate woman, who is just starting to find herself. Dean is strong enough to support Willow, encourage her dreams and keep her grounded. Growing up, Willow & Dean were always together. One frustrating day, one impulse decision leads to the road trip across the country that will forever change them and the way they see the rest of the world. This is the perfect book to curl up with. It’s easy to get lost in the laughter, the adventurous spirit of being young. There are moments when your heart breaks, when the tears well up. While growing up, S.M. would travel the roads around her house while imagining she was somewhere else. Her imagination would take her everywhere, making the long hot summer days seem shorter throughout her fantasies. At the age of twelve, she decided to write her first book. Filled mostly with dialog, she filled up one-hundred pages, front and back. After taking the book downstairs to show her mom, and persuading her to buy her more paper, she excitedly ran back to her room. As she barreled through the door, S.M. tripped over items left on her floor, and her papers came raining down in her room. Discouraged, she stood there in tears, picking up her papers and throwing them in the trash. Her work had no organization, no numbers on her pages, just a child fulfilling a joy that she would put down and not pick up again. When she became older, she joined the military for something different. In that time, she was able to explore many places and even met her husband in Iraq. After coming home, she started her family in Arizona and went back to school, earning a Master’s degree in Adult Education and Training.

“Does it hurt?” I asked, and then swallowed hard. I lifted my hand and dabbed at the blood, wiping it away as best I could. “I hope it does. You’ve ruined everything.” Even though I said the words, they held no meaning. My voice was weak, straining against an onslaught of emotion blooming within my chest.
“No,” he grunted. “It’s already healed.” He grabbed my wrist, holding my shaking hand still. “I did what was needed. You’re not staying here any longer, Jade. This little game you’re playing ends now. I’m taking you home, where you belong.”
I clucked my tongue and dropped my gaze. More butterflies surfaced in my belly and I breathed, “This is where I belong.”
“Look me in the eyes and tell me that,” he said. When I didn’t lift my head he chuckled, a deep rumble that turned my knees to mush. “You can’t, can you?”

When reviewing a series, the reviews get harder and harder to write as you read each book. I like spoiler free reviews and do my best to do them. So when you get to the end of a series, it’s hard to get out what you want without feeling like something is a spoiler.

Changed is an awesome ending to an amazing series. This book closed out the series perfectly. I love these characters and I hate that the series is over. 😦 Eric is of course, by far, still my favorite. I absolutely love that man and his green hair.

Changed had me guessing the whole time about what would happen next. I was extremely nervous through some parts in this one. I was so scared a certain thing would happen and thinking she wouldn’t do that to us. Would she? Thankfully I know now that no she wouldn’t. Lol.

In Changed, Amelia and Mitch, well lets say the whole family, goes through some struggles. A lot of struggles. With Mitch the way he is, everyone is worried what is going to happen. The other vamps in the neighborhood have been treating their soulmates wrongly and they have to figure out how to fix it all.

Eric and Megan have their own worries. As crazy as it seems I understand what Megan was worried about in this one. And of course Eric knows how to act like an ass and he does that very well in this one. But I still love him. Hehe.

Changed played out perfectly. Picking up from the last one and continuing the story while keeping it interesting. I don’t think out of the whole series there is one single dull moment. I had trouble putting these books down when I started. They sucked me in and kept me consumed. An amazing series dealing with Vampires and if you love vamps like me then you should definitely pick this series up.

**REVIEW** The Soul’s Mark: Broken by Ashley Stoyanoff

broken

At first glance, Willowberg seemed like any other college town to newcomer Amelia Caldwell. But after a whirlwind of strange events, she now knows the truth—Willowberg is run by vampires—and her soulmate, Mitchell Lang, is their leader. And if that wasn’t enough, Amelia also learned that she is a witch.

The vampires and humans coexisted with relative peace, or at least they did until the vampire hunters arrived. Now, Amelia finds herself at the center of a showdown, fighting not only for her freedom and that of her new vampire family, but also for the lives of Willowberg’s residents.

But when Amelia’s branches of destiny cross paths, a long forgotten darkness falls upon the town. For any chance at victory, she must revisit her past and come face to face with the ultimate challenge: a fate that was decided by a force much closer to her than she could ever have imagined.

Will darkness prevail, or will Amelia find the strength to mend what has been broken?

OMG!! That was my response at the end of this book. Book two is still my favorite but this book was WOW.. My heart wouldn’t stop racing. Even after putting the book down for a while, when I picked it back up, my heart went back to racing. It was crazy. I didn’t know what was going to happen and I actually felt scared like I was there in the middle of it all. I’ve had my heart race through books before but feeling fear while reading was a new one.

Mitch and Amelia again go through another round of challenges. This poor couple can not catch a break, but they are meant to be together. You can feel the love they have for each other while reading. Yes Amelia had her doubts at the beginning and maybe even a little in this book, but time and time again she has proven that she loves Mitch. Nothing and no one will change that. Such a cute and sweet couple..

Poor Amelia dealt with the most pressure through this one. It seemed like the whole world rested on her shoulders. I felt for her and then was so proud of her when things started playing out.

I love Mitch and Amelia but Eric is still my favorite. I love reading about it. I wouldn’t even mind a spin off of Eric and Megan. They are such a cute couple but Eric’s playfulness and fun attitude is awesome. I can’t wait to read more about all of them.

Now the book seemed to have names popping up from everywhere. I will admit a few times I had to stop and really think about which person I was reading about. They seemed to get jumbled together and I couldn’t remember who was who with the newer names. But they all added to the story.

I couldn’t believe the cop. I think that was the biggest shock of the book. Next was Josh. Oh wow. That one threw me for a loop. And the ending. The ending was unbelievable. I was not expecting it at all. The whole book was amazing.

**REVIEW** The Soul’s Mark: Hunted by Ashley Stoyanoff

hunted

When Amelia Caldwell learned that she was marked by a vampire’s soul, she did what any smart, self-preserving person would have done: tried to run. But thanks to the soulmate bond that tethered her mentally and emotionally to her vampire soulmate, Mitchell Lang, running was not an option and finding out she was a witch didn’t make her life any easier.

Now, Amelia has made peace with her new supernatural life and accepted her destiny with Mitchell, one of the most powerful vampires in the world. They are finally getting along but Amelia is sure he is hiding something—something big.

Little does she know that this is just the calm before the storm. When Mitchell’s former flame resurfaces and Eric’s dreams become distorted visions of his soulmate, hostility and tension threatens to tear their world apart.

Just when Amelia thinks life couldn’t get any crazier, vampires and humans start turning up dead. The killer—something more sinister and haunting than your run of the mill psychopath —is heading straight for their front door.

I know I said the last book was my favorite but this has topped both book 1 and 1.5. I loved how I could see how different characters were thinking and how things affected them. A story told through one character is great but a story told through more than one is even better. You don’t have to wonder what so and so thought during certain parts.

Amelia and Mitch find themselves in another predicament in this one. Of course nothing can be easy with these two, but at least they are starting to get to a point where they are working together. The way Mitch has been has been driving me nuts but I have high hopes that he will redeem himself. I love how Amelia thinks about everyone else before herself. She is worried about her family and not what could happen to her. I also have to say that I am happy that they finally, finally had their adult moment. Lol.

I am so excited for Eric. I was thinking after the Novella that he it wouldn’t happen, and to find out what “it” is, you would have to read the books. 🙂 I wanted to jump up and down for him. He can be dumb at times and he proves it but at least he admits his faults.

Mabel, my poor sweet innocent Mabel. 😦 Why her???

This book is freaking awesome. I can not get enough of this series. I can’t wait to see what happens next with everyone. The ending of this one will make you immediately pick up book 3. A small little cliffhanger and thankfully I don’t have to wait for it to come out, because I would go nuts.

If you haven’t read this series, I suggest you pick it up and start on it.

**REVIEW** Waking Dreams (The Soul’s Mark 1.5) by Ashley Stoyanoff

waking

In The Soul’s Mark, Eric Carter felt a burning spark when he first laid eyes on Amelia Caldwell. There was just something about her—something familiar—that pulled him to her. The problem was acting on the spark was suicide. Amelia was marked for his father.

Eric had been around for a long time, and before Amelia, life happened. One day he was a simple rancher and then the next, he was thrust into a world that he had never known existed, and dreaming of a girl that he knew he couldn’t live without.

In this novella, Eric Carter’s history is revealed.

I was giddy when I opened this book and realized it was about Eric. I LOVE him and this book had me loving him more. I was confused at the beginning over something but it was explained quickly so it didn’t last long.

My poor poor Eric. I felt so bad for him. So sad for him. My heart broke during this book. I felt his pain and suffered with him through the agonizing fight he went through every day. But during this book he grew. He turned into the man he was in book one. *Sigh* He is such a sweet and fun man.

Megan was a sweet girl. A brave girl and I started to love her. Did I want Eric to find his soul mate? Well lets say half of me did and half of me wanted to just keep him to myself. 🙂 This book has a twist at the end that gives you a little glimpse into why certain things happened in book one. It answered some questions I had when the first one ended.

If you’ve read the first one you know you can’t stop now. You have to read the rest of the series. Time to start the next one. This is a must read series.

Where do I even start with this one. I love vampires. More like I have major crushes on vampires. 🙂 This book was perfect. I couldn’t get enough of Mitch and Amelia. The things that these two struggled through during this one was heartbreaking at times. Loving someone but hating them at the same time. Wanting to hate them with every fiber you have but knowing that you truly love them. It could all drive you crazy.

These two go through a lot of struggles. Secrets are revealed, friendships are made, and enemies formed. I felt for Amelia through some of the book. I couldn’t imagine just being thrown into that life. A life where you realize the things you thought wasn’t real, really are.

I loved Eric. I would say he was my favorite in this book. He was so funny and kept me laughing. Loved the hair. Fiona, ugh what can I even say about her. I hated her. Absolutely hated her. And then there was Erin. I didn’t like her at first and then I did. Emotions played back and forth on her.

This was an awesome vampire book. Writing style was great. Everything played out smoothly with no dull moments. Always something happening keeping you on your toes.. I would definitely recommend. 🙂
